the type of decals “numbers” is probably the best category of decals, you can make a lot of things out of them, make side numbers to repeat historical tanks and airplanes, or tanks and airplanes from other games / movies /paintings /TV series. Unfortunately, new players were denied this opportunity due to the fact that the company was afraid of players with symbols of Russia/Ukraine, as many of them are banned in certain countries. But they did not take away the opportunity from everyone, but from beginners, so they also do not ban players for certain letters and symbols, even for swastikas.

I used to be able to use them but I lost access to that account and can’t use them anymore because I had to create a new account after they removed them. they should at least give them to players who cant be legally punished for anything they create with them.
Wait a second, you can’t anymore put numbers on your tank? This cant be true right? I use them on every tank, mostly to number my line-ups.
Also its cool that every nation has its own kinda style of writing the numbers (like the US use stencil). This was very cool.

Weird. I still have access to them. I don’t use them much, though.
They didn’t take them away from accounts created before, accounts made after just didn’t get them (new players) I made my new account after that so that’s why I don’t have them anymore (note once again cause making several accounts is technically against TOS, I lost access to my old account and I’m pretty sure It was deleted)
“Any new players that register an account after this announcement is published will not see any of the decals listed above in the customization menu. Existing players who already own these decals (achieved by fulfilling requirements or by purchasing them for ingame currency) will still for now be able to use them. Existing players who have not yet achieved or purchased these decals will only have access to the “Digits” set. All other decals affected will be hidden in the customization menu.” (link)
As the thread title says, this is only for accounts started after April 2022 (although several decals were removed from previous players at the same time if they hadn’t earned them yet as well). I think we can conclude now this won’t be a “temporary” change as it was advertised.

Forgot all about that. Removing/Limiting them still doesn’t make sense. It’s just number decals, after all.

I do think it was regrettable seeing all the decals with historical Eastern European freedom fighter slogans getting taken away at the same time though.
it was around the time the Ukraine war started, and they wanted to avoid people making political stuff on their vechals which would be illegal in some countries

It’s a game, folks. You’re gonna shoot the enemy regardless of whether their vehicles have a Z or swastika or star or whatever else on it.
I just want my numbers 1 and 2 back I put 2 on all my vechcals, and I used 1 to put invasion stripes on my planes (oh my god Grammarly does not know how to say veichals)
That April I had every ship in my inventory with my former military radio call sign on their bow as their ship number. They were all taken away and all that placement work lost… the original change deleted them from everyone’s vehicles as well. So I replaced them all with a certain national flag I respect for their recent string of naval victories. No regrets.
Technically, I made my account in October of 2017, but didn’t actually start playing until Christmas 2022, I had no idea other new players wouldn’t have gotten those decals.

Oh I can, I agree you’re worse off than me. But putting two numbers on either side of every ship bow took me a lot of time back then. I’m not gonna do it all again just to see them taken all away again next time Gaijin comes under pressure from the government to clean up their social media act.

No, there was a real threat to players in one specific country at the time. As the article says:
“However, recently adopted laws in a number of countries can potentially put certain players at risk if they are to encounter certain symbols within the game.”
Note, NOT to put them on your vehicle. To encounter them. If a resident of that country played a game that was seen to tolerate these displays at all, they could potentially face consequences for their choice of game (as would the company in that country, by extension). It didn’t matter if you were putting them on a vehicle yourself: that was never the issue. Putting a symbol of hate on your tank was already a ToS violation they could act on, if that’s all it was.
(Also note: “recently”.)
To clarify I meant that governments did not directly pressure them to do this and they did it before it became a big issue
