We have been given no idea what government legal demands or legal advice Gaijin would have received at the time about this so that’s entirely an assumption at the moment. They’ve been quite determined not to do anything that would cast any aspersions on the government of any country where they have players (as they should). This idea it was entirely pre-emptive, “just in case,” but also after a new law had just been passed in 2022 that they thought their players would be affected by doesn’t exactly stand up. It’s pretty clear they had gotten legal advice to do what they did there, or else.
I don’t disagree with that, they decided to do it preemptively.

They don’t have to stop all hate symbols. They already have ToS if players complain to fall back on to take action there. They just had to be able to show that government they had taken reasonable affirmative steps to protect players from that country who weren’t using those symbols from even seeing them.
Again, while it was an inconvenience to me and I don’t want to lose time over it again, that’s kind of understandable. The historical Eastern European freedom fighter slogan removals was where I did have to wonder what government law would also oppose players even seeing any of those.

They are thinking about allowing it in video games becouse of art
But it was way worse before wen they forbid gore and even fight against humans so alot of basic Shooter games had to Switch humans/blood for Robots/Oil
The first Half Life game had to replace the marines with robots and any blood was green.
