Responding to issues regarding dev server reports & an update on spall lining armor from the developers

Removing spall liners would be the best option. They’re just frustrating.

Sure. Just didn’t have time to check them out.
All or nothing.

Spall liners are the only way to balance top tier gameplay so it isn’t CoD.

The issue with Spall Liners isn’t their existence, it’s Gaijin’s refusal to add them to every modern MBT because they don’t have exact blueprints of them.

Not having them in any tank is no different than having them in every tank. I agree, the game didn’t need them in the slightest and would benefit greatly from having them all removed. The concept of spall liners and anti-spalling protection has been around since 1918. I’m sure if you were patient enough, you could go digging and find something for a vast majority of the vehicles in the game showing that they had them or something like them.

The sheer amount of things Gaijin has altered in this game for the very sake of “balancing”, going as far as using a historical inaccurate tank variant for a $70 pack. And as many people have stated across these forum discussions, realism doesn’t always equal fun. There’s no excuse for not putting one inside every MBT from 1980 and onwards.

As said above, I agree with the statements the game didn’t need them. Adding a third RNG mechanic that dramatically decreases the viability of flanking and keeping it within a small pool of tanks was an asinine decision. Either the mechanic should’ve been delayed until they could implemented it a significantly wider scale or just not added in the first place.

Spall liners aren’t RNG, your shot still goes through it just doesn’t have a large spall cone, it’s reduced not prevented.

Your shell will still hit crew / ammo / critical components.

Spall Liners are a historical part of survivability for vehicles since the 60’s so they should be in game. They need to be implemented for all vehicles that had them to make it fair as well as correct all armor values of existing modern vehicles.

I`m sorry I would like to ask why Leo2A7V is 2 tonnes heavier than STRV122 and has less armor ?

I ask the a similar thing with the TES

Guess we disable all drop tanks, EFS systems, etc cause some are still missing them. /s

Can we disable common sense? Some posters are still lacking it.

Well sir, the intricate nature of game development isn’t common, especially with simulators; so to expect people to inherently know it is like expecting people to inherently know what batter is.

Still waiting for my Swordfish radar…

It should be notice that you are developing an online game ,instead of a simulator for physics. I don’t think it is a good idea to add such thing which is equipped by most of modern tanks, nothing will change but unexpected bugs.

still waiting for an answer on abrams/chally armor changes or spall liners for the rest of the ground vehicles, or should we chalk this up as a loss for everyone but russia and germany as usual

You mean sweden, germanys armor is still vastly underperformimg as well. Germany right now only is flavour of the month

It also is to say, we do know atleast was US spall liners are made of, its Tensylon by DUPONT. DUPONT makes most spall liners afaik. Its integrated via kevlar backer mounted with or behind the external composite blocks, + UHMWPE moldable composites inside the tank. Which is why its hard. Literally what some of the now most advanced body armors are made of. Its performance is similar to that of ceramics. How thick it is though and protection it offers, is a thing we’ll Literally never know. If its even .75"-1" though, itd be on par with level 4 body armor which can withstand multiple 7.62x63 AP

But you cant find anywhere online where or how its mounted or what vehicles do and dont use it. I know MRAPs use it though and I think even some heli seats use it

Just like reactive armor…it went out with the m60’s line of tanks. Modern Western tanks have been engineered far ahead of the Eastern countries.

Does this look like a spall liner? No? Well for some reason it still acts as one.

Nah someone just leaked bradley classified military documents again

Wasn’t that just two images of the export-restricted M2A2 manual detailing the exact placement of the spall liner?
