Repair costs are way too expensive

I recently bought the Mosquito FB Mk VI on the British tech tree. This basically broke me, I have about 5000 silver lions and recently, I have now started having to pay about 1000 silver lions at the end of each match, and I am having to purchase golden eagles to pay for silver lions to even play with my plane. This never happened before the update when I was playing RB. Maybe this is new because it is a rank III plane, but if the cost increases the further up the tech tree you go, I can’t imagine how horrible it will be in a year’s time.
Would you like to lower the cost of repairs?

Why don’t you just buy premium account? Buying SL for GE is a waste of money

If you kill enemy aircraft, you can get SL to repair your own

Dont play the mosquitos, just run spitfires

yeah but a mosquito isnt exactly a fighter and tbf i’m not great at the game

Youtube is your friend :)
Look up tutorials and you’ll improve

I’m trying to spend as little money as possible, and seeing as I don’t play the game that much, like max 1hr a day, I think premium would be a waste of money

Thanks bro i will

Aircraft used to cost up to 65,000 SL.
Tanks used to cost up to 30,000 SL.

Trust me, the current repair costs are NOT expensive, hahah. Even less so a 1,000 SL repair cost. That’s practically free.

If you’re not going to buy a premium account, learn to fly the lesser aircraft and develop your skills before you move to higher and more expensive aircraft to maintain.

If you’re buying GE’s to repair your plane frequently, you’re probably spending more than a premium account, which would offer you significant SL earning benefits

You ever have situations when you receive severe/critical damage like your wing getting cut off, plane on fire, controls destroyed …

But your tail is still intact (not cut off) and your pilot is alive?

Do NOT J out.

J-ing out while still “alive” causes you to be credited with FULL repair cost even if you were only alive for 5 minutes. Wait for your plane to crash and die and you’ll only pay like 5000 SL rather than the 12-15k.

Now, this doesn’t help if you get shot down after like 12 minutes into the match, but at 12 mintues you likely bombed a base, killed enough a.i planes/ground targets or maybe even players to offset repair costs.

Turn auto repair off and play lower tiers to earn SL.

Imho you received valuable feedback from the community.

Your problem is not based on repair cost.

You just met your current skill border; that’s ok because you have just a few matches experience and ~ 5 hours playtime in Air RB.

Have in mind that the game is designed to allow progress without having gained the necessary experience - in order to create the demand for GEs or Premium products.

If you want to get a way more direct and honest feedback open the spoiler:

Spoiler

In general:

  • If you lose SL whilst playing the game you play outside your skill grade - you play at a too high BR.
  • One exception: You are emotionally attached to a certain plane and you can afford it.
  • A “healthy” game progress is marked by a constant improvement whilst playing combined with success which is measured by SL & RP income.

Specific:

Don’t get me wrong - everybody can play like he wants to play - it’s a free world. Prop Air RB is no rocket science and rather easy to learn.

But:

I watched the replay of your last match on the Frontline Lagoda map. Honest feedback: A pain to watch. And evidence enough that you should consider to invest time in learning how the game works.

  • Your key issues & deficits: Lack of situational awareness. Having a game plan, map knowledge and being aware of your surroundings at any time is essential to play an aircraft.

  • You flew against (and below) the whole enemy team, finished a damaged base with rockets, killed few ground units and were totally oblivious to your surroundings. As your whole team died you were the last enemy and get killed by a B7A2 with an engine damage.

  • The guy which killed you had smoking engine and is actually slower than you on the deck. Without your empty rocket rails you could have easily avoid your death (and repair cost) by running away.

  • Flying a twin engine strike aircraft is actually way more demanding than a single engine fighter as there is (almost) nothing you can do vs them if you lose your initial speed and energy advantage as a result of your forward air spawn. Low and slow = dead.

It is your time and money so therefore your own decision how you proceed with playing war thunder.

If you were my son or nephew i would recommend you:

  • to watch Defyn tutorials about basics like aiming, positioning, ACM
  • to use the plane in which you perform best (your Beaufighter) and research the 1.7 Hampden bomber (the foldered one, better loadouts)
  • to play this bomber for about 50-100 matches in order to gain crew XP (essential for spotting, high g-load fights and repair times) and to have a stable income
  • to watch replays of your matches - when you get killed out of nowhere in order to learn from it or when you witness a fellow UK pilot in a 2.0 Hurricane with a high kill number, also in order to learn

With some effort you can easily regain fun whilst play wt.

Have a good one!

So you’re spending more money instead of less money because you want to spend less money? heh
Premium account is cheaper even if you spend 10 minutes a day playing.
1 hour a day you make your money back instantly.

Well, you should be making well in excess of 1000sl per match. Can you show us the results of a few of your games so we can see how you’re doing?

Just buy USS Frank Knox for 1,500GE(?) and never ever have to worry about SL again. On a good match using a SL booster the game gives me, I can make in excess of 600,000SL per match. Perhaps even a million if I win on an antimech order. No premium account.

The solution : Premium.

Pro tip;

Don’t die

Biggest pro tip;

Get kills

Forgot to mention you didn’t deal with old school Sweden repair costs. (Shit was brutal)
