Repair cost reduction if the pilot survives (potential suggestion)

Very simple idea here. If you’re shot down, but your pilot survives (you eject from the plane in time), you get 20% knocked off your repair cost. This would give ejection seats a legitimate use, and discourage players from crashing into the ground to deny kill credit, and help lessen the penalties on players.

Thoughts?

Not a terrible idea but as long as the premium account conserves losses from repair cost
Crashing kill-deniers will still gonna be crashing, I guess.

Sorry if I broke your mood.

Like the idea for reduction however I don’t really see people crashing to the ground intentionally to deny credit kills. And hoping that Gaijin wouldn’t mark me as Dead and give the kill to that player just because i landed on the airfield with half a wing (Served Damage)

It’d be a good idea.

Right now you do the opposite.

If you die-die (pilot is killed, tail cut off), you pay repair cost in ratio to your time alive.

If you only get crit/severed, you pay full repair cost (or did when I spammed ARB) if you J out, but only partial like die-die if you crash.

This would make it so if you J out or do a soft-landing, you gain a reduction in cost.

However, I’d make it so:

10% or 20% if pilot survives.

20% or 40% if “soft landing” or “crashlanding” (you put the plane down in the field), even if doing so damages the plane further (in props, my field landings often result in prop strikes or landing gear snapping. Or just the fact that being longer in air has a chance to turn your previously white engine black).

That could be circumvented by saying your plane has to be damaged severely before you eject otherwise it’s a full repair cost since you simply abandoned your aircraft.

I wouldn’t make it a specific definition of “severe.”

Just damaged enough to qualify for kill credit if you had crashed anyway.

Planes have very different damage sensitivities.

Some planes will never or rarely stall and spin even with a missing wingtip (hellcats and corsairs come to mind).

Spoiler

While others can keep their wings attached but have a blackened wingroot or wingtip and once entering a spin cannot recover no matter what.

Thus, we should set the “you get discount for bailing” to maybe a yellow on the wing or empennage and attached surfaces. Some planes don’t care, some planes become crippled.

Personally, I don’t think being damaged should be a requirement. J’ing out gives credit to enemy, so people will only J out when they know they’re going to die

On this end, I propose manouver kill mechanic, maybe combined with “J-out repair cost knockdown” it would make the game more about fighting each other instead of denying other kill.

Oh you haven’t seen those filth in F-104 TAF aren’t you?

if pilot survive should get some reduction for sure

except most of the time they behave like a pussy and kill themselves by crashing. by punishing Crashers through full repair cost and kill credited to the nearest aircraft/most damage dealer and rewarding J-outer by knocking down their repair cost WHILE still making their J-out credit the ejection as kill to someone the game would be better at least.

Yeah, a manuever kill mechanic would pair very nicely with J out repair cost paybacks. Even something as simple as crashes being treated like J’ing out so it gives credit to the last person who damaged you, or the nearest enemy if you’re undamaged (even if they didn’t cause you to crash) would eliminate all reason to intentionally crash your plane in ARB.

they just fly to the airfield and camp there

I didn’t think of that. Valid point
