Remove the Cupola Exploit

You are confusing exploit and bad game mechanic because you like something which is implemented wrongly but don’t like result of it.

APHE acts wrongly even with normal penetration hits because of spheric representation of HE blast.

Clearly, Drak doesn’t understand this, and won’t ever. No matter how many times we nail the coffin shut. He will keep trying to break open even under several tons of concrete, wood, dirt, and steel.

He will stand his ground and claim that the Cupola is an exploit just like so many other poorly designed mechanics or features in the game. Then starts demanding its removal since he cannot comprehend the concept of tanks being knocked out by bombs, aerial strafes of variable calibers, concussion bombs, metal falling darts, list goes on.

I agree that the cupola “exploit” should be removed. But it’s not an exploit, it’s a consequence of the nonsensical APHE damage model

make full use of and derive benefit from

use to good advantage

to treat something unfairly in order to make money or get an advantage

then shooting where the amour is thinnest isa exploit then

or using APHE in general is exploit since its usage of wrong spherical HE blast simulation to gain advantage

What you call an ‘exploit’ is actually a ‘weakspot’.

If aiming for weakspots is an exploit for you, why don’t we put some armor on the Jumbo’s mg port?

Not really only forward… a CONE, wide cone in fact since the filling is in the middle. So it would still increase lethality to the commander as all that sharapnel bounced and goes back into him. Issue is shrapnel detonate ammo too easily in game even at low energy state( after a bounce)

We could lose the shoot the barrel exploit fist. How somebody can hit something the size of a Tennis Ball from 500m away which such regularity is beyond me.

I am thinking it is more a random outcome than a sign of good shooting.

So people who can aim shouldn’t be rewarded for it…?

Nothing to do with a broken mechanic.I can’t stop you supporting stupidity.

There is nothing broken about shooting barrels…?

Are you asking me a question? Do you imagine a tank can hit another tanks barrel end on from 500m in real life?

Comparing War Thunder, an arcade game, to real life is silly.
Pz.IVs face R3 T20.
Firecrest faces biplanes.
PRC and ROC share a tech tree.

I don’t play arcade I play GRB and Warthunder lost it when it abandoned all attempts to be realistic.Just got silly and childish. At least make a vague attempt otherwise we might as well have the vehicles from Star Wars in the line up.

Shooting the end of a barrel is just plain silly.

so is fixing you engine in 30 seconds after a 120 went though it

What I said is that War Thunder in general is an arcade game, I am not referring to the mode.

It is not a realistic game in the slightest and thus shouldn’t be held to a realistic standard in it’s design.
If you want to have trouble shooting at a distance then feel free to play WoT… which is still a less realistic game than War Thunder xd.

So why recreate the vehicle’s to match the original specs?.Game balance would be simple if Gaijin just abandoned realty and made perfectly balanced vehicle’s.

Sherman Jumbo has the same armour and gun as the Tiger,No Bias.Make all nations tanks equal.Give all tanks without a 50 cal on the roof an MG on the roof so we can all shoot at CAS.Make life easier for the UK in WW2

Do you want WT to do that? Would a complete detachment from reality make you happy?

If you want a fantasy game play Space invaders.

I’m not saying that the game should be 100% fantasy, I’m simply stating that you can’t expect realism from a game like War Thunder.

The game needs to be satisfying in order to have people playing. By practically removing the skill aspect in aiming for certain weakspots such as barrels it would greatly reduce the feeling of being rewarded for the effort stuck into playing the game.
