Tbf, helps if the game wasn’t just a jousting simulator. I always lose b/c I’m limited to 2xAiM 120s and 2xAiM 9s v jets that carry 8+ ARH. Any time I get close enough to fight, here comes 4+ ARH at 4 miles… it’s pretty boring up here. I personally think Gaijin should make ARH missiles 20k a missile to bring back actual fighting and not what it is now.
Im going to sound like an scumbag but either you are stock which is ultimately irrelevant annecdotal experience since stock grind sucks for everyone and has little to no bearing on how spaded aircrafts performs

You are flying a plane that can only carry such missile combo which means you have lower BR to begin with (such as the thai ARH tiger) and IIRC you cant see 8x ARH planes anyway (not in game rn so i cant check).

I get (relatively) plenty of dogfights with guns and IRs, trick is to not die in the first 3 minutes of the game

Yeah, I’m stock but that also shows that the game is built around just throwing missiles at eachother rather than actually doing any other objective. Heck, you can’t even win anymore by bombing everything out anymore.

I mean, good for you? I’m usually the last ones left v half the enemy team b/c my team decided to joust like it’s the middle ages? And again, that doesn’t change the fact that most of the fight turns into a fighter that held their missiles and just spams them once you get within 4 miles.
Thats on gaijin not adding more indepth objectives and instead relying on same match layout that 1946 prop planes did, not on BVR existing
If you dont find BVR fun thats perfectly fine, but this “idea” (unlike, say, RB EC which would fix way more issues with ARB) would ruin the fun for others who might find it engaging.
If you dont want to deal with radar missiles, theres some 10 other BRs below 11.3.
Unfortunately, they have changed it from what it used to be. There used to be proper Ai bomber formations on maps but the fighter mafia cried about how OP bombers were (because they’d sit right behind them at the same airspeed), which is also what lead to the gunners getting nerfed. Same thing with airfields being bombed and if you bombed all ground units and bases, you’d win.
I’m fine with BVR but being spammed with 8 ARH missiles at 4 miles isn’t BVR, that’s just missile spam. It isn’t engaging, it’s just hoping your enemy doesn’t have the same capability. I’ve lost count on the number of jousts that I’ve watched where both parties die b/c that’s all it is now.
I do find it comedic you’re trying to paint this as “skill issue” rather than actually addressing the issue of there being no gameplay loop outside point blank missile spam.

I took my F/A-18C early out this weekend after a long time and within those 36 games i played im sitting at 80% winrate and KD of 4.34 (begs the question of what i was doing when i first got the hornet because lol)
Most of my kills happened around 16km range.
Before that I was flying out MKK mostly, not sure about my exact performance with it but most kills happened also at range.
The no. of cases where I get spammed ARHs at 3km is minimal and is result of my positioning mistake.
I have no one to blame but myself for ending up in position where I get spammed to death by ARH carrier close range.
Same on my end except in the typhoon and at 20~40km. If I’m much closer than that I’ve either got 1 enemy left, am going for a sneaky 9M shot, or have really, really messed up.

So still comparing apples to oranges. Again, 4 miles isn’t BVR and it isn’t 16 km (which is almost 10 miles, which gives you time to get into a notch). It also doesn’t negate that Gaijin should increase the cost on ARH missiles to equal the playing field and stop the missile spam gameplay loop. “Oh, but just position better”. Oh please, do explain how to “position better” in a 1 v 4 because your team decided to joust and lose at the start of the match and all you get is 2 ARH and 2 IRAAMs?
I think you just have severe case of skill issue tbh.

And it would do nothing to balance out the issue, just as lower repair costs did not fix one death leavers.
Again, stock loadout experience does not matter that much, its equally bad among all planes.
And you simply have to do your best in putting pressure on the enemy so that it doesnt end up 1v4.

I feel like you’re missing the point and that you just have a COD mentality of “fast gameplay loop is fun because action”. This is the same exact mentality that’s lead to the dead gameplay loop of missile spam and there’s no new game modes.
I suppose my EFT and other planes ive played when they were top (like both MiG-29Gs) dont count.
