Yeah turns out I’m not just sitting here on the forum xD And that’s exactly my point of how the only viable way to play is to just throw missiles… which is what I was talking about changing. Maybe Gaijin was right when they said the community is too stupid for a new game mode.
However, the gameplay loop pertains of either everyone climbing to orbit and throwing their entire payload of 6+ ARH and then either going cold or being smoked or staying low and come in with an entire payload of 6+ ARH and spam them point blank. At least I’ve been tossing bombs to try to do something other than missile spam.
Not as if I’ve literally been playing almost strictly top tier for the past week or anything… I’ve gotten into two dogfights that didn’t include them just spamming ARHs at my face point blank.
People who spam their entire payload at the start of a game usually don’t do very well. Its super easy to defend long range shots like that with a basic notch.
Most people who do well using fox 3’s shoot them sparingly at targets with a high probability of kill.
I mean that parts fair as I rarely have issues with them (had one where an R-77 was giving no RWR as it came in at my 3 level and smoked me but that’s just the snail being the snail. Wasn’t locked by the launch aircraft and was giving no radar signal in the replay), but still part of the same gameplay loop of missile spam. They could very easily also do the other part of going low and just spamming payloads point blank.
Yeah, i find that missile spam isn’t really an issue once a few minutes of the game go by. I usually play defensive and try to make sure i survive past the initial merge of the two teams.
mid/late game in RB is much more fun and interesting.
I wish. Usually, over half my team gets smoked in jousting and then when I get into a fight, here comes 4+ ARH right at my face from 4 miles. That is what I have an issue with and that’s why I was talking about increasing ARH missile cost. Actually had two legit dogfights in the F15E (one against another F15E and another being a F18E) and won the gunfight. It was fun as all get out.
Cool, the two dogfights that didn’t end with the enemy just spamming every ARH they had it me point blank ended up with me winning (one v F15E and the other was the F18E).
yeah it sucks when your entire team gets sent to the hanger in the first few minutes, but i don’t think making missiles more expensive is a good idea, just results in less sl gain for everyone.

I play against my friends all the time while they are in F2s and Gripens. I usually end up on top or make them struggle super hard (the Gripen funny button turns that thing into a UFO) so that’s funny you bring those two up.
The thing is that for modern jets, most of them are designed for BVR and ARH missiles. personally if i want to dogfight and use IR’s, i play around 10 - 11.0
