Well, I guess everybody has his/her preferences about loadouts, depending on their playstyle. = )
For me it’s 6x AIM-9, 4x Mk.77, the ATLIS and a single AIM-7 usually on the 18C. The ATLIS is very helpful especially on maps with bugged mission target points, like Afghanistan and Vietnam.
the only way to get kills with the f18 is wanted being hunted and being the hunter
I know it’s not exactly korean era but.

Me in downtiers when I see a sabre or something.

holy skill issue
Radar missiles will not be removed, even suggesting such an idea is ludicrous
You should not be Base Bombing in F/A-18s. They are beyond Excellent fighters for their BR (ignoring the AMRAAM Hornets)
Flares will not do anything about radar missiles, thats Chaff you need to use, at the BR almost all radars are Pulse Doppler, meaning for Chaff to work you need to “Notch” (Fly 90 degrees to the emmitting radar source), E.G a Mirage 2000 that’s launching a missile at you, fly 90 degrees to the Mirage 2000, chaff, radar defeated, not nessasarily missile defeated, as CW seekers on some radar missiles do not always make the missile defeated automatically. If its a Active Radar missile (you’ll see them constantly in uptiers) you need to fly 90 degrees to the missile and chaff, they are fooled easily with Notch+Chaff
another way is to Multipath, which is flying below 60m (to what its set in game) Radar Altitude, at 60m the effect starts, to i reccomend flying at around 40m off of the ground for best results (multipathing cannot be 100% relied upon, but is still a largely valid tactic)
You should probably learn the basics before jumping straight into matches with missiles. Please don’t take it as hostile behavior : going top tier without knowing the basics will be unfun for you, as i’m sure you are now already aware
for radar missiles, the best way to evade is use your RWR and put the radar locking you at 90°-100° on your left or right, and start using chaffs (NOT flares)
Missile gameplay can be fun if you know what you are doing, but quite brutal and pain if you don’t
This is what happens when you fight a Lancaster

Just fyi this is useless advice. No matter how much of non-top tier you play, you’ll never learn almost anything needed for radar missile survival. The game has always done a terrible job at getting people ready for what is essentially a completely different play style and almost guaranteed death.
Yes but if you pay straight for top tier, you’re thrown in a game full of sweats and learning how to play is so painful. If u actually play for free for a bit, u start learning how to play battles better, so that when u do get a jet, u get used to it easier
energy managment, positioning, gunnery and prediction of how the game develops are all skills that are present in the game no matter the BR.
so no, going back to lower BRs where game is slower is not bad, the skills gained there just dont directly translate to defeating ARHs.

Its good advice. Going up the tech tree means that you face very basic radar missiles first. Then they get stronger as you go.
Just dont play top tier. And maybe think for a while before the purchase?
tbf as someone with 390 hours in WW2 propeller fighters, I’m pretty sure if I went to touch SARH/ARH or all-aspect IR missile jets I’d develop a KD of 1 kill per 40 deaths or similar because the things the 109 F-4 taught me would probably kill me if the enemy had a missile.
I’ll give it a test when the BP challenge requires 4 rank VII and VIII kills. rip my meagre ASB stats.
im not saying skills translate 1 to 1, but you know how to conserve energy and how to read map. Thats like 50% of the skill required to succesfully dodge radar missiles.
Youtube exists, there are guides for this.
There is nothing stopping you from going on youtube and looking for guides, asking for advice also doesn’t hurt.
idk why this is a difficult concept, simply do 5-minute research on this.
Let me make it easier for you

The fundamental skills you learn at low tier (positioning, awareness, fuel management etc) are still relevant and seen at top tier.
Even dogfighting is a useful skill to have.
You do not have any top tier aircraft, I highly doubt your view on this kind of topic is accurate
