Remove Pay-to-Win Bushes

Another FREE bush. Hopefully more tears will flow.

Its about the realism. We do need it. Since tanks do not run on infinite fuel, even in battle conditions.
We would also need to remove the map pings, scouting and objectives, since they do not make sense in a realistic context.

After how many days?

Tanks are not aircraft they do not run out of fuel in ~40 minutes they are designed to travel very far. What are the benefits of a fuel slider when at half fuel a tank can cross a WT map 20 times over?

The same answer.

The biggest problem is that they look terrible. Completely ruins the aesthetics of the vehicles when someone smushes as many as they can onto the front.

But seriously it can take months to get a full set to hide a vehicle and for some a year+ of doing the battlepass. That just sucks for a player to have a disadvantage like that, it’s bound to be reworked at some point, the sooner the better.

So its time to make the maps more accurate according to real life no?

A map size of 25 KM would still not be large enough to warrant the implementation of fuel sliders for tanks. War Thunder currently does not feature maps larger than this. I don’t believe anyone would wish to play a ground battle on a map as large as this anyway in the current game mode structure.

Your definition of “”“free”“” is absurd.

This is a time-limited, high-time investment activity that many players will NOT be able to access.

Progressing the battlepass, by minimum, requires a tier 3 vehicle. This alone can take a month or two for a player to obtain, so no special tasks for them.

By the time they reach tier 3 … In one game mode, much less all 3 for flexibility in tasks… the battlepass is likely over.

Surely, you say - they can just do the next battlepass!

Well, from what I’m told bushes only happen every second battle pass. Good luck getting a bush if you join at the wrong time I guess.

Now, even if you do get battlepass timing right… you have a very, very limited time to reach BATTLE PASS LEVEL FIFTY SEVEN to open the shop.

Let me repeat that. FIFTY SEVEN. I started playing again 2 weeks ago, and have been depression-binging the game and performing usually at the top of the leaderboard in air RB. Guess what my battlepass level is?

Five.

Five after nolifing the game for a week and doing hours of gameplay as possibly an above average air player.

Now, will someone who only plays 1 hour a day, or maybe even only on weekends where they can put in 3-3 hours on saturday and sunday, ever reach BATTLEPASS LEVEL FIFTY SEVEN?!

Not in this world. Each battlepass level takes 10 points. Log in plus easy task is 3 points. Maybe they can do medium for another 3, but not always likely until they got rank 3 naval, air and ground alike for task difficulty flexibility (with some tasks being super finicky to achieve).

Special tasks are an insanity on their own. They take 10-15 matches so it is a multi-day endeavour.
Now, challenges help a little. But it’s… 30 points for a very time-limited thing that again needs tier 3 in ground, air and naval alike to even participate. I’m nowhere near tier 3 naval, I’ll not get odin’s challenge before it expires.

Now, you could say “All of warthunder is grindy!”

Yes.

But there’s no time limit. You could with ease take your time, play a healthy amount every day and eventually unlock all your crew skills, vehicle modifications and tech tree dreams.

You cannot with a battlepass because it is time limited.
There’s a reason battlepasses tend to be considered unethical by sensible gamers.
It literally preys on FOMO.

Hence my suggestion:
Make bushes like the camouflage unlocks for your vehicles: get certain score, modification RP or kills/caps/whatever that is tracked indefinitely so you could, if you only play 3 hours on saturday and sunday, still unlock it eventually.

And have the option to purchase progress with golden eagles.

I have no issues with paying for progression, removing repair costs or buying premium and exclusive vehicles (I do have an issue with time limited vehicles though, because FOMO-based marketing is deeply unethical).

Are you familiar with Dota 2? One of the pioneers of free to play systems that makes good revenue. They have a rule for cosmetics: it must not hinder the glance value. A cosmetic must never make it so you need to take longer to recognize what ability is being used or who the hero is compared to stock. However, League is more comparable than Dota 2 given it has “buy heroes to avoid long grinds” which technically does cause inequality in what would be a competetive environment, but glance value is respected there as well.

Battlepasses are not free. They prey on FOMO to drive purchases as their grind vs time limit makes it impossible to progress for all but no-lifers.
Crew skill, modifications research and tech trees are free (even if they take an absurd grind - they’re not time gated).

So make bushes part of modifications research but not required for spading and put their RP cost high enough to heavily encourage using golden eagles to buy it or at least getting a talisman/premium account.

It seems quite simple, just spend a little SL to get what you think is a simple task, and the bushes in the war bond shop does not require actual money to be spent

and my battle pass is already at Lv86, apart from the level 15 included in the advanced version, I have also reached level 71

i think you can say that battle pass need a long grinding, but you cant say that is not a free way to get bushes, just as squadron vehicles

Bushes are no longer pay to win when you can get them for free by using war bonds from the battle pass that you don’t even have to get.

I would say rather have actual camp netting and the perks that come from having certain types of camp nets on vehicles

If it was not time-limited, sure.

But you have a 90 day window to somehow get to level 57 battlepass.

A mere 90 days. If you join too late, no chance. If you only play 2 days a week? No chance.
It is technically freely obtainable but not actually.

It would be actually f2p viable if it was not tied to the battlepass and you could progress towards it year-long, even if you only made 0.2% progress each day you play. Even that would be far more accessible than the current thing of 90 days to get level 57 battlepass.

Let’s say again you only play weekends - a pretty reasonable assumption given people work or have school during weekdays. So, you have ~24-26 days depending on how weekends line up.

With ideal case of 26 days, and getting both easy and mediums done: you’re looking at 26*5 = 130 battlepass progression. This is 13 battlepass levels.

Let’s assume you manage to log in each day and you log in from day one. you’ll get 22 or 27 levels for free (if google is correct, it gives conflicting results).

That’s still a whole 17 battlepass levels you need to get somehow. Challenges require tier 3 in naval, air and ground. If it was just air and ground then, maybe.

Special tasks? I have rerolled. That’s how I finally got “win 15 air RB matches with over 50% activity” which seems actually doable. Let’s say you have amazing luck and get decent special tasks. That’s 26*5= 130. 13 is less than 17.

And again, this assumes you have a 90 day cycle where you got 13 weekends. It gets worse with a 12 weekend cycle.

Again, make it not rely on a battlepass but a module unlock you can work towards the whole year. Then it’d be fair.

Or just look at your hit cam and see a full un-obscured 3d model of his tank… Or play arcade where it just tells you what tank it is and where to shoot it.

  1. Screw arcade
  2. You shouldn’t need a hitcam to deal with an OP mechanic.
  3. Hitcam still doesn’t help you hit weakspots that are covered.

So just turn RB into arcade because you don’t like realistic mechanics?

you don’t “NEED” it, its just a cheesy way to bypass bushes

Yes it dose, it shows you what tank it is so you can accurately estimate the locations of weak points, or at least you SHOULD be able to, if you can’t, that’s on you.

If you can’t survive without bushes then that’s on you.

Who said I can’t?
I’m giving you solutions to the “problem” that you are complaining about. Any player with a little practice should be able to figure out roughly where to shoot based on what tank it is and its gun/ hull position. You can either listen, learn and put in the effort to improve or keep suffering and complaining on here, up to you.

The solution is remove them
