To the people saying “its only saving grace is its firepower, raising its BR to 6.7-7.0 would render its firepower useless too”;
All I am going to say is that its firepower is the exact same firepower (both gun and shell) AMX-30 and AMX-30 (1972) use at 8.0 and it doesn’t seem to be “lacking” even at 8.0, so I wonder how that 400mm pen HEATFS (because yes, although it’s technically HEAT, it’s modelled as HEATFS to simulate the rotating external cap design of the shell) would become “useless” for being placed at the same BR of the Tiger II it can lolpen from any range and angle.
Remember: M-51 was made to fight and destroy T-55s and IS-3s, yet it’s facing T-34/85s and Tiger Is.
7.7 is too much, but I think this tank could do more than perfectly fine at 6.7-7.0, where it belongs. Its armor would have the same effect as now (next to none) and its firepower would still be able to punch through anything it faced; it just wouldn’t stomp on mid-WW2 tanks as often as it does now.

Thanks for explaining, but I still fail to understand why the whole convo derailed into stat shaming, seems like a waste of energy to me. ( Just do a private duel in props or T-34s n solve the issue is my suggestion :) )

Well, I’ve already said what i said, the M-51 is a hit or miss for me, I defo won’t go back to it ever again. Played it mostly in RB so idk about arcade.
That is as far as I’ll go really, nothing else to add nor will I involve myself into arguments like that, sorry.
Edit: I do think it’s in the right place in RB tho, my opinion only, mostly due to the hit or miss part. It can be portrayed as op in good hands, as always but can also play like poop if no braincells r used. REALISTIC, again

Totally agree.
I have been playing 3 years despite what people can see.Never been above 7.7 BR (8.7 uptier)
I have completed 11222 missions mostly WW2 or close Post war.
I would say the M51 is about on par with the German Nashorn at 5.3 .The survivability is about the same but the M51 seems to be a giant target and hard to hide and I am a natural, cautious sniper(A Coward? lol )
The Nashorn has the PzGr option which is not the roll of the dice that the HEAT of the M51 is.
If anything the M51 should be dropped to 5.7 or even 5.3 to give the Israel players the lift they deserve for enduring the misery that is Israel in WT at 6-8 BR

I love to laugh at arcade players as a big hard GRB fanatic.The speed of the tanks ,the easy CAS,the fact you can can’t hide ,the targeting etc .Then I play Arcade and get my ass kicked to F**K and I scuttle back to GRB.

Problem with M-51 is that it could be on higher B.R. and that wouldn’t change much when it comes to the vechicle itself. The problem is in HEAT performance which is questionable at best.
For the sake of ‘decompressing’ the B.R.s and letting heavies have some fun, I would say that rising its B.R. for 6.3/6.7 would be ok. He still wouldn’t meet vechicles which could tank his shells, and he could stand a fight.

Well, i don’t think it would do much. At that BR, you just have waaay better options for other nations.
Like why would you take it over a 76mm M4? It has a 0.50 cal (and only the premium M-51 has it), better reload, better damage, still can pen anything, if the player is not braindead and can aim, and don’t forget the stabilizer…
They will not move it down, because wehraboos, like this idiot would cry more. maybe they will move up with more decompression, but that would not change anything.

Right now i feel that French HEAT more powerfull than recoliess rifle for example. I can post tons of screenshots destroying frontally with a single shot a lot of tanks, menawhile the M344A1 just explode agisnt armor and dont pen.

Look at the CAS options for the M51 in GRB. 3.3 ME109 ?
The M51 can only share a 6.0 line up with another of its kind which is a very expensive premium.Other than that it has multiple respawn which means the glass canon has to be the answer to everything.
Only recently does it have assistance at 6.0 BR from what is essentially an artillery piece presumably firing HEAT.A somewhat sad and desperate addition as far as I am concerned.
No,so many reasons why it needs to stay at 6BR.
I suspect the OP has been killed a couple of times by a huge M51 he failed to spot and is butthurt and angry and wants it gone or nerfed to oblivion.The story of the WT forum.Sadly Gaijin are only too happy to oblige such people.

The lack of a lineup is not a valid excuse, and in 6.7 you can put the Z tager and Amx-13 so again not excuse for moving up.
Im my case is totally the opposite, i see how stupid and easy is this thing in downtiers, 5.0 and 5.3 dont deserve face a mediun tank can shot 400mm HEAT every 8 seconds.
