Remove autoeject

It’s a dumb and quite buggy feature that serves no legitimate purpose in WT except to make gameplay worse. Doesn’t really need explaining why.

do you mean how you “die” if your tail gets cut off? what exactly do you mean by auto eject

I believe OP is referring to this

how-the-hell-is-that-written-off-to-severe-damage-v0-0m6kr1xkbdad1

No blame on you for not getting it, seeing as their description is vague and not precise at all.

I had both my wings cut off earlier today but I could still fly, was heading back to base to repair but sadly the game ended and thanks to “severe damage - written off” mechanic I was ejected automatically

autoeject as in you can still control your plane but get the 15 second countdown anyways

He said it wasn’t, its about the 15 second countdown

I’ve rarely had this happen to me without the whole tail coming off, and i’ve flown a mig23 with no wings back to base safely and landed it without any issue, so this must be when the plane takes so much damage gaijin considers it “dead” right?

yeah he knows it’s about the feature that’s specifically called autoeject, but I guess he’s just playing dumb to prove some sorta point.

I really don’t though. I can’t recall ever being auto ejected by a timer while the aircraft is still flyable.

Since I’ve never heard about this being an issue, I assumed you must be referring to the written off mechanic

You don’t happen to play air arcade, do you? Maybe it’s something to do with the gamemode.

It’s rather annoying when it does occur in air RB, I had an XP-55, engine fire, perfectly intact, but the moment I landed and “Repair” I didn’t repair it at all. Instead both wings magically fall off and that was that, thankfully that guy didn’t get the kill but still made 0 sense.

Irrc auto eject was disable in air rb a while ago, now its only present in Grb and aab

no It’s still here. If you crash land away from the airfield with a broken engine it’ll start the 15 second countdown

What is autoeject exactly?

When the server decides your plane took too much damage and gives a 15 second countdown to a forced ejection whether you want to or not; whether you still have enough control that you want to still try or not.

What people don’t understand and will not accept is that it’s done to balance your progress. And that’s all I’m going to say.

More specifically, done to f—* your progress

lol I wonder what that reply was

Well yeah… if you crash land in some random part of the map… why should you

A: Stay in that vehicle anway?

B: Have the ability to still be “in the fight” when your plane is now a scratching post for the local cow population?

why should you be kicked out?

Because in ARB, the match lasts until tickets run out or all enemy players are gone.

If you have crash-landed in a field without any way to take off again, that means you are no longer a threat to the enemy. Nobody reasonable is going to look for the last remaining player alive by searching the ground - they will climb instead and search in the skies. The only counter they have is to pop “Blind hunt.”

Thus, a plane has turned into a non-threat and will not be able to be a threat again: it should count as dead.

Now, I will argue repair costs should be waived in full of you execute a “Soft landing” or at least severely discounted even if it was in some random field.

In air sim, I see no reason not to allow someone to land in a field given the win conditions require objectives and ground-target bombing: killing all enemy players only works if they quit outright due to infinite* respawns. However, there’s one exception: A points. If you land on the ground in an A point you should get ejected because there’s now not even markers to help spot your speck of a plane and in an 1vs1, you can indefinitely delay capture like that. Alternatively require a minimum altitude of 50 meter RALT to contest A points, just like how there’s a maximum of like 5.6 km BALT to prevent space climbers.

Severe damage is counted as no longer an “active” player, not to mention GRB. You can’t capture points when severed/“crash landed” either.

I’ve had ARB matches with my wing missing or tailplane in pieces or at least the elevator control cables cut off as last surviving player where I could land & repair without issue. Only time “Severe Damage” seems to come up in ARB is if you lose to ticket bleed and get “written off.”

In sim I’ve had the misfortune of trying and failing to land a plane with a dead elevator (cables severed) and black stabilizers (qualifies for severe damage) for a good 10 minutes before crashing right in front of my airfield. If that didn’t cause an auto J-out, I’m not sure what can.

For ground I’ve no idea.

Edit:

Just watched teammate land and rearm like no big deal with a missing wing on runway:
