First of all: I know hullbreak wasn’t very good. But we need it back because removing it led to many high caliber midtier tanks not being able to reliably kill slightly armored tanks quickly. In fact some light armored tanks can tank more hits than any heavy tank what creates a paper armor meta.
Take an IS3 as an example; this tank suffers a lot from the removal of hullbreak since it cannot just switch to HE to make use of over-pressure because of its 20+ sec. reload.
Ofc hullbreak should be reworked, so you don’t get killed when a round touches your roof mg.
We do NOT need this mess of a system back. Light tanks are incredibly easy to kill and if you cannot then skill issue. Stop shooting them in places that won’t do anything, learn to aim for important components.
The caveat to the larger light vehicles at that BR like the BTR and SA armoured things is the massive dismount compartments, shooting into these is literally a you issue and adapt your aim towards the turret section, plus you mentioned the IS-3, just hose them down with your Dshk, most of my deaths in the fox were to roof mounted 12.7mm’s over main calibre guns.
I’ve always though they just needed to have a citadel type box in each tanks model that when pierced would hull break. This would be an easy fix to give hull break will preventing hull breaks by hitting mg or mud guards etc.
Hull break had rules. Overpressure is literal random chance. Just yesterday i killed a T95 with my AMX30 DCA by shooting its cupola. 100mm armor vs 30mm HE, overpressured. Zero logic. I’ll take hull break any day.
Currently, light armored vehicles are most certainly more durably than heavily. I’ve taken over a dozen rounds in the bkan and lived due to its crew and ammo layout.
It’s tricky playing UK and France with no Roof MG and only solid shot.
It’s like spalling doesn’t exist for light armored vehicles.I have seen on youtube a Sherman shooting shot at a pick up truck and it made a mess inside, I wouldn’t want to be sat inside it ,yet shot passes harmlessly through so much in the game without harming crews.
Trouble is that if you reverse the situation then the current format does offer you a bit of protection and makes things like the Yag, Breda or Flak88 worth playing.
Hard to know why you would bother otherwise. It all kind of works out as far as I can see even if it has drawbacks.
For any large rounds, you just have to hit something to trigger the fuse.
I really didnt like hull break because it was more broken. My kv2 would hit a flak88 in the engine and not hull break while i could hit a tire and hullbreak.
You don’t have to shoot everything you see as soon as you see it. Or as already mentioned in both of these threads, you aim for something critical that will make it go away prevent it from getting away or shooting back while you load HE.
Yeah, you are asking for cope to make your game easier. GLWT.
And for Hull Break really work, would need to divide all the vehicles parts in minor frames for this kind of distortion, and when the vehicles reachs certain distortion values, this would destroy it as Hull Break.
At least what I see as viable and something realistic.
