Reintroduce Hullbreak

If a kv2 shot hit a tire IRL, the explosion would tear the entire hull apart. It isn’t a track or wheel repair, the entire chassis of the vehicle is scrap. Thats what hull break is.

In order to trigger hull break you had to hit one of the hull break components. Breach, track, or engine. Then you had to do a damage quantity over its max hp for hull break to trigger. You probably didn’t have enough fragments hit the engne to hit that threshold.

I would assume a 152mm round hitting the engine would of triggered it. I guess not.

I would not say bring back hull break, but it is definitely not realistic, if a Jagdtiger, or an IS-4 hits a lightly armored vehicle, and it doesnt just simply die.
I am pretty sure that in real life it would be very dead.
This is because only a few components in war thunder are modeled, but irl there is more stuff in these vehicles, and if the shell does not fuse on the armor, it will fuse on some other stuff in the tank, and if the german 12,8 or the russian 122 goes off the whole thing will be reduced to rubble

All of these are examples of why a citadel within the armour model had to penetrated to hull break. It would stop that rubbish happening.

I have screenshots from the hullbreak era where Light Tanks died to:

-Being hit on an optic.
-Being hit on a wheel.
-Being hit on a track.
-SHOTS BOUNCING OFF ITS ARMOR.
-Being hit on the edge of a corner.

It was ridiculous.

I had the misfortune of purchasing CV 90105 back when Hullbreak was at its worst and grinding the Swedish tree with it was the worst experience I ever had in War Thunder:

So… yeah, we don’t need this garbage back. Basically, merely being hit at all was a guarantee of death.

This is why I say model a box inside the tank that needs to be penetrated for hull break to activate. It stops the busted kills you mentioned while bringing back the realism some shells just destroy things they hit.

He said improved hull break. An improvement would be to fix the bugs you mentioned.

I would agree to this, but only if it triggers only when very large shells or big explosives hit them.

For example; an APFSDS shouldn’t trigger hullbreak because, realistically, it just slices punching a hole through the plates; but a large caliber HE shell with enough explosive power should, and never in the case of well-protected light vehicles like PUMA or Namer.

always so funny when I toss 300 SAPHEIs at T80s using my M247 and it’s a dice roll whether one of em is gonna somehow kill him before he kills me.

no thanks

what belts were you using

To answer your comments:

  1. The engine block doesn’t always work and even if it would, light tanks would still be able to tank too many hits.

  2. With the second comment you have just confirmed how bad it is, light tanks being way harder to kill than heavy tanks as you just described.

  3. I’m sorry to break your delusion but not every opinion that’s not yours is just irratonal.

And i have videos of overpressure killing vehicles with even wilder and less intuitive hits. Your could be explained by desync between kill camera and server (actually a pretty big problem back then). Mine can’t.

Meanwhile, you have shit like this.

L31A7 HESH with 6.5kg explosive force. The same shell as on the Challenger 2. Can’t kill a light IFV with a UFP hit. Not even a single crew killed.
