Nobody cares, go whine in the Russian bias thread instead of derailing this conversation about the Abrams’ armor
BVM is far from being some crazily armored tank.
its worth mentioning the carousel, which disables turret rotation for all vehicles except the T72/80/90. There’s also a small bug with the autoloader - if a vehicle is destroyed, it will still reload.

You know what would actually fix the abrams armor situation? The Missing Shell Shatter Mechanic for High Angles Real-world physics dictate that when a hyper-velocity dart strikes an armored plate at an angle past 80–82 degrees, the sideways forces cause the rod to instantly snap or disintegrate. It dumps its energy into the air as fragments Gaijin’s physics engine does not properly simulate structural stress and disintegration on the Abrams UFP. Instead of simulating a 2-foot-long metal dart bending and breaking, the game treats the round as a perfectly rigid, indestructible point of kinetic energy. And the abrams ufp is 83-85 degrees. If they correctly modeled it then no rounds would go through.
True, but the BVM compensates for it with some immensely evil mobility. If you’re sitting still in a BVM enough that someone can reliably hit your mantlet you’re kiiinda doing it wrong imo
Shells already bounce off of UFP into the turret cheeks for the most part.
Problem being sometimes they bounce off the UFP into the turret ring and pen
Volumetric as seen on the A1 in dev should help with that at least.
Yeah but in real life the shell doesnt ricochet and such high angles it shatters. And wont do anything to the mantlet or turret ring.
It’s not like gaijin doesn’t have a mechanic for shells shattering too, they just willingly choose not to use it
Yeah you are right
Evil mobility = SEP mobility.

This photo made me laugh out loud
Now compare speed retention in manoeuvres
This image has been proven to be a joke multiple times.
Abrams is extremely similar to BVM in this category.
I think reverse speed also applies tho. Its pretty important and the russian t series dont have it
My view may be skewed by the only spaded abrams I’ve used being the v3 on dev I suppose, but the BVM feels like it holds speed in turns unnaturally well compared to just about everything else I’ve used short of wheeled vehicles.
What a joke of a sentence.
This has to be the most cherry picked article I have ever read. This ENTIRE argument is under the assumption that the hull has used the same armor inserts/composition since the 80s. I don’t know how hard it is to understand that density to mass ratio are not universal for every element. It’s the same concept as “what weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of steel.” There’s PLENTY of documents out there regarding potential armor composition upgrades, but the burden of proof for western nations is so incredibly high that no argument nor documents will ever be good enough. Steven Zaloga (if you don’t know who he is, he’s one of the foremost tank experts on the planet) has published multiple CREDIBLE books about potential armor and protection values in the M1A1 and the M1A2. Why can we speculate when to comes to things like the kh38 and Relikt but not western armor. I’m so sick and tired of the favoritism
