Regarding the Hull Armor of the M1A2 SEP V3

Definitely. Its about 1.5s slower to 60 than SEP.

All in all I gotta say im satisfied with what gaijin did with this controversy, it seems they really put a lot of work and research into this decision. I think people forget to realize that yes armor was increased but gaijin literally has nothing to base it on. Everything is classified and to just make up armor would be incredibly difficult and unrealistic. Red Effect on youtube came to the same conclusion 2 yrs ago when the abrams controversy happened before.

Here is the most updated version. Differences in time are due to the XX.YY in old sheet being frames out of 30, which is an oversight on my part. Frames have been converted to % of a second in this one.

Thanks, will save.

I mean it certainly affects the realism part of the game negatively. Not only in the sense that russian tanks are not realistically modeled but more so in situations like the one in this thread. Instead of accepting that some equipment wont be competitive and thinking about different methods of balancing Gaijin would rather kneecap everyone elses vehicles so stuff like the BVM and T90 can be at the same BR as a SEPV3 and a 2A7V.

Current BVM and T-90M are almost a whole BR worse than SEPv3 and 2A7V…
But Gaijin needs all nations to have 12.7 tanks, which was ironically the fault of the British playerbase.

Yeah exactly and if Gaijin took realism more serious it the gap would be even further.

Considering that british top tier also massively suffers from selective realism and bs additions i kinda doubt that.

Iirc at one point top tier was moved up and CR2s were left behind at a lower BR. They complained they had no top tier tanks; so the monkey’s paw curled and the CR2s were sent higher, along with other tanks. And its been like that ever since, current CR2s are basically 12.0 tanks.

Funnily enough, CR2 is actually overperforming in hull armor.

T-90M is 51 tonn heavy first T-80 is 42 tonn that is 9 tonn difference.

T-90M has 500~ mm protection against KE without ERA.

The sad truth is nobody knows. Least of all Gaijin. They do the best they can with what they got. It’s unfortunate that this stuff is all classified, but it is going to remain classified for along time. I just either avoid top tier or just accept the vehicles in game are what they are and try and ignore how fake everything is.

So, if we calculate armor in kilograms, the T-80BVM should weigh 70 tons?

No.

Why not?

All arguments about BR should use statistics based on in game performance.

StatShark - The Best War Thunder Statistics Site

is an excellent site and statistically sound.

The bottom line is Gaijin doesn’t care how good a vehicle is. They care about how it performs in game. And scrub players lower the curve.

That text is referring to the top of the fuel bulkhead only on IPM1 and M1A1 which was reduced from the M1’s 1,5" top bulkhead, which was added back when M1’s were turned into M1A2 SEPs

The rear bulk head is max 0.25" so Gaijin is being really generous with 0.75" thats atleast a 300% boost from reality:

Different sizes, Different way of protection.

So an update on the whole “classified information” thing, Gaijin used that exact source two-and-a-half years ago on their previous post about the Abram’s armor.
You can’t make this up lmao.

SEP V3 also has improved side turret array that includes DU that increases the CE protection 200% up to 800mm of protection. Maybe that’s why the turret is a lot fatter is because it also incorporates DU side armor. This improvement was also on the SEP V2 and M1A1 SA.
