i should mention be sure totry dlss native. the performance gains are great and the image is insanely good
Any improvement after new patch?
gained about 20fps, sitting on 140 now in ground max 4k settings
(I am NOT using Ray Tracing still) however, I gained something like 20-50+ FPS after new update.
Using DX 12 with 3090ti.
If/when I retest RT I will post an update here.
I did my own test.
RTX 3060, 1080P, TSR, upscaling native, ray tracing medium and it’s really good.
I had 3-4 drops to 2-3 fps and I thought my computer will explode but after that it’s actually stable 60 fps, sometimes 50-55 fps.
Before the update I had regular drops to 35-40 fps no matter what upcalling and what ray tracing preset I used.
So far so good, at least on maps without windows, I just played on remastered Rhine and it’s gorgeous.
DLSS 4 support added !!!
I don’t think I can use DLSS 4 cuz im on 30xx series, but very interested to see if this works well for the 40xx / 50xx users!
EDIT: Soooo looks like there were some improvements to DLSS (with DLSS version 4) even for 30xx series cards? I don’t quite understand the articles, but if anyone understands more and/or sees improvements for 30xx cards with DLSS, please let me know! I currently do NOT use DLSS on any game with my 3090ti due to the “blurring” that occurs.
Nvidia DLSS 4 update post that I found, I don’t understand what it really means for 30xx and/or 40xx cards: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/geforce-graphics-cards/5/555374/dlss-4-faq/
DLSS 4 is less stable and looks worse than TRS in my case.
Hello, what about PS5pro, now that AMD received Ray Tracing support?
RT seems to work pretty nicely now! I haven’t seen performance degradation after the first match anymore.
Water looks bad, though. Very blurry reflections and massive instability especially at the waterline when turning camera.
DLSS4 is gorgeous! Crisp detail out to horizon, ghosting gone.
Running 11520x2160, raytracing medium, DX12, DLSS4
FPS about 100-120
RTX 5080
Peak Warthunder achieved!

Oh yes, I changed TSR to DLSS and it looks better. I don’t know why it didn’t work for the first time.
Seems RT now crashes my game when switched on irrespective of settings, its fine in game itself but any hangar or menus stuff and it just freezes up and crashes me out
Was absolutely fine for me prior to the updates too averaged around 80fps with it on ultra, get a few more fps now but I can’t leave it on without crashing out
I wanted to show the abysmal performance first, but then the hornet sting update happen and i tested a second time.
To say it short, the previous Ray Tracing performance was utter shit, but now they made fucking good improvements.
In worst case scenarious i jump from average 30 to average 70 fps.
Also the effects, especially the windows look much MUCH better.

Pre-Hornet Sting: https://youtu.be/1-YPRXGs36c
Hornet Sting Update: https://youtu.be/Ve6xgcPHS8w
Thats with a RTX 4090.
Wow, that is a huge improvement, and still very obvious when watching a youtube video (my monitor is 2k, and I made sure to change the youtube quality to 2k/1440p) versus seeing it in person on your computer. I really like that you showed your settings before you entered the map too, great work, thanks for sharing!
Yes, its randomly crashing when with RT on.
Already opened a bug report, but no response until this time.

Gaigin are clearly early in the optimization regarding DLSS.
While we know they are using “DLSS 4” there’s a lot of detail missing.
DLSS4 includes:
Super Resolution
Ray Reconstruction
Frame Generation
Multi Frame Generation
So far all we know for sure is Super Resolution is supported. Frame/Multi Frame Generation is not, and Ray Reconstruction is unknown.
Some other DLSS4 games have checkboxes for each of these options.
The good news is that framerates should only go up in the future as both NVIDIA, and Warthunder optimize with better drivers, and more DLSS features enabled.
I do have your cpu and a 7900xt nitro+ i testet RT, it works fine with about 70fps on 4k.
But i prefer to disable RT, cause i dont see any differents. Just in Windows. How many maps with windows we do have?
Also reflexion on water is better with RT, but yes during a match often there is not much time to enjoy the beauty graphics now 😁
Which grafic card do you actually use?
Maybe u should try a AMD card next time. We dont have any problems in 4k i do have about 70 fps with everything maxed out. Incl RT Ultra. Just tree and grass distance rendering is at 50%.
