You also dont need to own a plane to know whether it is good or bad. The last year and 4 months of air rb gameplay has been clear enough (look back on statshark) that the rafale isnt remotely close to underperforming. Rather it is closer to overperforming and has taken a year to finally get a peer in the SU-30SM2

Not used it personally, but that sounds like half the issue. MICA EM dominate, completely. in Short range combat, the only effective way ive found to fight a Rafale in the Typhoon is to keep them at longer range
This is a whole lot of skill issue. I recommend git gud, Rafale is one of the best planes in top tier Air RB as it stands.
But in total all I believe is that in the recent updates the other top tier aircraft has got something to bring themselves up, so if gaijin doesnt want to update the MICA then why not add something like the MICA IR (Ofc artificially nerf the seeker a bit like they did with the AAM) to make it be even more uncontested at very close ranges so it balances out its lack of BVR
Basically every plane, typhoons in particular as they are strong in BVR, will try to maintain their distance from you. You need to get close to them to around mid range then engage. Don’t send one mica but two micas in two different directions as it makes it harder to notch.
Because the Rafale doesn’t need the MICA-IR. It’s powerful enough as is.
Actually Rafale is the strongest in close range, Rafale needs a longer ranged missile to be “balanced”.

Then can the Typhoon get ASRAAM and IRIS-T (nerfed of course) to give us Equivalents to the MICA-EM or these “nerfed” MICA-IR?

In theory, they all should be added at once.
As it currently stands, the Rafale is actually in need of a few nerfs, like it has barely any drag at high alt, it accelerates unrealistcally.
Also the MICA EM remains the Fox-3 to have accepted reports regarding seeker performance actually actioned. AMRAAM has a number of 2+ year old reports still accepted and un-actioned including technically 2 for the seeker
If you’re concerned about the Rafale’s drag being ahistorical, that’s a fair point
But if Gaijin is going to care that much about drag modelling, it has to be consistent. u can’t just fix the aircraft and ignore the weapons it uses.
currently the MICAs drag feels too high, making it terrible in BVR . So even if the Rafale might have slightly low drag, that’s at least partly balanced by a missile that loses energy way too fast.
If they’re going to fix drag, it should be across everything, not just where it ends up nerfing the one jet by itself
Perhaps, though they buffed a number of things on the Rafale so far without also buffing the same for the Typhoon and others despite accepted reports.
Heck, Typhoon is still waiting on its UV Filter for the cockpit HUD, rafale got that day 1 of the dev server
If we get in the technical details, the current rafale f3 shouldn’t get HMS and the SP3 modification to carry 2 more micas from 6 micas it should carry. You know what I’m gonna see if I can find a picture of an F2 pilot with HMS now.

Yes I know, I was just getting into the technicals. You know for me this is good news because whenever proof that F2 trialed HMS comes out, F2 finally gets an HMS for being at 13.7

a year or so ago, when the Rafale was the meta and everything else was boarderline unplayable… it would have mitigated the MICA EM enough to balance it out.
Now, with others finally all getting AESA (sorry Israel, gaijin doesnt like you) including high gimball AESAs like on the Typhoon. Its balanced out quite a bit. Though the lack of HOBS on a lot of top tier jets is still a major issue imo
by that logic the chaffee should be fighting tiger 2’s or french EBRs should be fighting T55’s, or what about Maus now being 5.7 so it only fights up to late WW2 like M4A3
