Unironically you could launch the pl12a at 9km altitude going mach 1.5 and it would still have less range than the mica
I say this because ive tried it
HAHA
this is a joke right?
No the drag is just that bad
Except that PL-12A will keep quite a bit more speed at range, making it better against defending targets.
only works for people kinematically defeating the missile and not notching tho
also in the j-10c youre never gonna be going as fast as rafale
Barely
even if it has better tracking because it has no drift it falls off the sky past 20 km
so u basically skipped all this
same for u.
Oh no the plane that has been undisputed #1 for 1.5 years is now contested for #1 by a plane (Su-30SM2) that is arguably harder to use. Don’t get me wrong I think the Su-30SM2 is ahead of Rafale when played at its maximum potential due to excellent loadout + excellent radar + decent kinetics but for the more average players the sheer kinetic performance of the Rafale itself + kinetic and seeker edge of the MICA is just easier to work with.
tbh i have spaded the most important mods of the Su-30SM2 (survivability and missiles, i didn’t grind CAS weaponry yet) and it’s arguably easier to use than any other plane.
literally just hard lock a plane and launch whatever u want (R-77 or R-27ER too) and see how the enemy inevitably dies cuz u can crank while hard-locking.
you still can notch it but yes while dueling a ER is harder to deal with then an R-77 as you have to defend way harder… or yk… Iron dome meta
the thing is that when u unlock R-27ER in the Su-30SM2, u become an actual threat since u can notch and defend from enemy missiles while ur targets need to defend against a hypersonic Mach 5.8 agile Fox-1 u can keep locking on them while defending from them.
Yeah obviously it’s easier to use the Su-30SM2 over stuff like the F-15C GE or F-16 PoBIT, but compared to the eurocanards? You underestimate how far ahead in kinetic performance they are and the advantages it gives them. It was best described in a migan fox-3 video I watched sometime ago where he described a failed notch while in the Su-30SM2. Something to the effect of having a larger margin of error while notching because the eurocanards are so fast and maneuverable that unless missiles are fired well inside the NEZ, they can just let the missile fall behind and outrun them. This is also discounting the vastly advantageous defensive sensors that they possess.
Honestly, you’re not wrong about the R-77-1 being better than the MICA-EM. If the Rafale had R-77-1 instead of MICA for example, it would be a menace.
It’d outrange everyone in BVR (except a Typhoon with C-5) while also being able to still do better in WVR than others. It’d close the gap in bvr capability compared to the EFT while taking a bit of hit in WVR due to loss of MICA but still remaining way better in WVR. So yeah, R-77-1 better than MICA even with the modeled seeker for the MICA.
Ok so, R-77-1 for rafail when?
No need, the Mica NG will likely cover that well, longer range, dual pulse and all.
If I had to guess, it might drop in June.
Yay 😐
Honest reaction:

They’re already afraid of implementing even the smallest buff reports available out there for them to choose from out of 100 reports, I can’t see them adding MICA NG in June.
they have been doing barely any bugfixes/“normal” fixes in the last few months in the first place tbf
