I think anyone who has played any modern jet with a decent radar set that allows a fast TWS refresh has had the misfortune of accidentaly locking on to a missile that has just been fired just because your radar suddenly decied to start tracking a fired missile instead of the enemy jet we are trying to destroy. Or maybe you are trying to find an enemy to engage just for your radar to go through several launched missiles it can detect before selecting the guy you want.
And lets be honest, does anyone really shoot down enemy missiles in order to survive an engagement instead of notching or terrain masking? Sure you may save yourself with that trick as a last effort, but Id rather accept defeat at that point.
Having 32 jets that carry 6 or more ARH missiles in air RB is already messy as it is and I sure as hell dont want to be able to detect or lock on every enemy missile that is in front of my nose.
With the recent update we got the ability to completely filter out friendly contacts on our radar to reduce cluttering our scopes with friendly and enemy contacts. But in all honesty noone is really gonna care about that feature since TWS doesnt even allow us to lock on to friendlies. But for the love of God can we not just add a simple missile filter to our radars too? Im definetly not trying to roleplay as a SPAA in air rb and intercept enemy missiles with my fighter jet.
Hello anyone? Could someone at least reply with “No!”???!!! It makes BVR, after first fire, impossible and unplayable. TWS is completely useless after that.
Will, now you have this function in dev server. Guess what, now everyone is shooting at the incoming missiles. I have played the dev server for two days and players in F15C, F18E and Su30SM2 with 12 fox3 can shot down every single missiles and kill their challengers. I have to say it’s not fun at all.
Well if they want to waste their missiles to shoot down other missiles then be my guest. This is just a quality of life update that makes finding actual targets easier. Notching is still the better option so idk why anyone would want to waste their kill potential on missiles instead of shooting it at actual players.
We’re just gonna have to wait and see when update comes to the live server, cause you cant judge anything perfectly on the dev server.
You are only part correct, but think about the situation that you are already in advantage position and you fired a shot that could 100% kill enemy. But he shot down your missile and shoot back at you, this is just so stupid and upset. If this is possible then rafales will not get shot down in India.
shooting down missiles with your own will always be an option, but I doubt anyone will actively try to survive that way cause its really just a waste of your own missiles. With the new update youll finally be able to filter out missiles from showing up on your radar and everyone including myself will be able to play top tier without hundreds of missiles in my radar scope.
I really didnt expect this method of avoiding enemy attacks would become meta.
In most of my air RB matches people either die or notch, rarely do I find someone actually destroy missiles. But I can understad why people in sim would do it and honestly thats kinda sad. (Its been a while since I last played sim too)
Like the ability to shoot down projectiles was an option for a while now, but all of a sudden its becoming a problem in air battles…
