Which the only way this happens is if ALL but 2 - 5 aircraft in the 7.0 - 8.0 range move down with R2Y2s by the same amount, because as proven previously, the vast majority of aircraft R2Y2 is equal to are already 8.0 themselves: Meteor, MD452, etc
All 7.7s but maybe 1 or 2 are inferior to R2Y2, Meteor, MD452, etc.
Oh, BTW I nicknamed the A6M5 Ko the Thunderbolt hunter in 2019 due to how easy it was to destroy them, even when they played perfectly.
I’d say from my experience it was easier to merge against Sabres than Mig-15s using the R2Y2 due to the fact Sabres could pull harder than the Migs and slow down more.
Back when Japan could only face under-BR’d American aircraft, it made sense why R2Y2 was 7.0, cause it was facing under-BR’d American aircraft which themselves were around 7.0.
But once the matchmaker stopped being Japan vs USA, of course both tech trees’ aircraft started increasing.
I got my first ever post-1km shots in the same exact match using the R2Y2, one against a Tu-4 from below, another vs some fighter trying to flee.
It would move to 7.3 after that, bomb was still forced-attached as it was still a bomber.
I’d play it more, including in simulator, I was a terrible pilot too at the time. My KD would be lucky to get 0.75 in any fighter at the time. This one was around to over 1:1.
The next BR change? It got changed to fighter, the bomb was removed as a mandatory attachment [I was dropping it on spawn every match anyway as were most R2Y2 players at the time], and it was moved to 7.7 at that time or in the change after.
I played it some more and I then stopped playing it.
In the mean time it’d move to 8.0 and I was learning how to be a better pilot.
A few years later 2025 comes around and I play the V3 to spade it for Thai vehicles. Not only do I do well in it, I discover it’s like an Su-25 for its BR. Not the greatest performance, but good enough to hold its own.
R2Y2 is worth 8.0. Some 8.0s should be 8.3, and some 8.3s 8.7 [Looks at A-4H], and so on.
And R2Y2, Meteor, MD452, etc are the definition of what an 8.0 aircraft should be IMO.
