Fix the mig23s radar aswell let me change the fkn distance and let me use mti mode whenever i want

AFAIK MiG-23 cant use MTI all the time, it needs to be looking at the ground to filter out the returns since it uses coherent doppler or something like that.

used to be able to use it whenever i wanted to but

yeah but IRL it worked something like this, so were stuck with it unless gaijin reverts their decision i guess.

Yes that was wrong hence why it was changed.

Only problem is that is took like 4 years to be fixed

same for every russian missile

yeah but in real life, the pilot could also manually switch between radar modes

MTI cannot be used above the horizon level because it needs the ground to work,
MTI works different than PD.
PD goes off of relative velocity
MTI sends 2 signals out, whichever value dosnt change i.e. the ground, is filtered out, leaving the moving aircraft.

the R-23R and 24 both uses something called cw. cw is pretty much you dont need to be locked on your target to hit, you only need your radar to pick up the target. here is a thing i made

Ah, finally someone explained coherent doppler radar in such way even i could understand it

AIM-7E2 on F-4E also works like that.

İt works on mirage f1c

yea idk then, maybe the russian one needs it or something, or its possible its just an IRL thing. I personally dont like the change, but whatever

The main bugbear is the hard altitude cap of 3-4000ft (above which MTI will not engage). The trouble is that this is REALLY buggy - so on an undulating map like Afghanistan you might as well be at tree-top height before the radar allows you to use the only mode that will work…

As it stands now - you have to be pointing down at the ground which means you need some height. However you can’t go high enough for any long-range shooting otherwise Gaijin’s auto-radar-switching decides ‘nuh-uh - ground not exist if it’s further away than 4000ft.’

It also won’t work if trying to point nose up towards a solid surface like a mountain - for example engaging an enemy slightly higher than you but silhouetted against terrain. Apparently Gaijin MTI logic indicates that there are no ground features that could possible be higher than a jet at 100ft ASL so the radar just borks and refuses to see any target even if it is against a solid (and static) terrain feature.

You are juggling all of this while trying to ‘just notch bro’ the AIM-54s are are arcing towards your team by the dozen and without getting tagged by a third party. (Who is probably wondering why that red MiG-23 is pogo-ing up and down in the sky without getting a shot off).

Solution - What should ACTUALLY happen is that the MTI mode can be selected by the pilot, manually. However it will be less effective the further away from the ground it is. Less of a static ground return as you get further away. It should also have an additional margin of 5-10 degrees above the horizon to stop the radar from being befuddled a target travelling 2 feet above the nose of the MiG…

This but unironically.
