It wasn’t IRCCM, last week of devserver gaijin did something and made the r73 and r27t completely unflarable, even with engine off. Whatever the reason was, conspiracy or not, people rushed to complain. Like there was a chance they’d ever add a missile like that into the live game, it would simply kill it

9L had innate flare resistance, not about FoV, but preferance for engine heat

Because back then the 9L had 2.5deg FoV. Still much worse than the R-73’s 0.75deg.
the only change made to the flare resistance was increasing the FOV from 2.5deg to 3.6deg
IT ISNT ABOUT FOV. It’s about preferance for engine heat instead of flare heat thats in the game files for every IR missile. Not “FoV’”

Its probably some universal change. Sometimes they would ignore flares from 2km against a low heat signature su25. This was around the time where the harrier gr7 was added, they got changed fast. I personally noticed the difference using and facing them
which was never changed for the AIM-9L, it’s always had 11km for both flares and engines in its detection bands in the files
R-73 is the same
I’ve had 9L ignore flares when i was in MIG-29A, engines literally turned off by pressing I, flaring and getting hit anyway despite maneuvering.;
While muh R-73 gets flared at point blank by gripen

Yes, this is 9L before 9M/R-73 was introduced. When it was R-60M vs 9L, and multipathing was very strong, and everybody complained about R-27ER and no american main ever considered how garbage R-60M was.
I’d take 9G over this garbage R-60M

it was never changed for either missile, the values for each band have stayed the same
only thing to change was the FOV on the 9L
Back then ALL all aspect missiles had low sensitivity to flares compared to now

the 9L was nerfed the same patch the F-16 released, the FOV is the only flare resistance nerf it received
