You know that it’s reasonable that some things limited R-77 design specifically but not pther missiles? Most likely would be battery power and compactness of motors, so grid fins were adopted to reduce hinge moment.

The SM-6 booster stage is enough to get it out of the cell and possibly as high as M1 under 5,000ft. These speed an altitude assessments are guesses. But the point is that from Mach 1+ at a significantly higher altitude the AIM-174 should reach well beyond the SM-6.

Only time period where the mig29 could actually fight the f16. Other than that, in the last recent years the only time the ussr had a huge advantage over everyone else was with the MLD. That’s 1 single time compared to what the US gets almost every update

SU-27 was best for BVR, in WVR with missiles, from time when added, until now.
It didn’t. It was completely broken. You can find videos if you wish or check the old forum. It was broken in every aspect FM (even worse than the current) and radar. Only the gun was good in it, it one tapped a lot
when apex predators released the MiG-29 had generally superior flight performance, you can check any video about the planes from the time and they will say the same thing

Not really, 27R is closer to the E2 in range and speed. There was no reason to add the ER I agree. If only they added R73 like everyone was asking
