R-77s are horrid and the R-77-1 is needed

Eh, well yes… but no.

Yes - because it been developed for SEAD missions.

No - because it still can lock on enemy (or friendly) aircraft radar, and fast/agile enough to intercept fighters.

If the fighter just turned away or turned off its radar though the missile would lose lock

You say that active r-27 was tested in 85
BBCRF says that it didn’t exist.

Who is right?

Thats true.
But how many you seen players, that setting their radar off?

Well, it still been developed for SEAD/AWACS kill, ability to kill ASM/aircraft is just a luxury.

Really? I have the Su-27SK Flight Manual. On which page can I read about this?

Choose one.

What what?

Work on the rocket was curtailed in favor of the R-77. So she didn’t go further than the prototype. In fact, they were converted from R-27R

Now, read carefully.

They CAN use it.
But as R-77 exist - R-27EA ain’t used.
But can.
As Ukrainian MiGs used HARMs, just Su/MiGs can use EA, on ER pylons without “hammer, and some mom”.

As you can see - i said 23ML can use R-27R/T.
Not ER/ET.
So i aint sure about EA, because even if they can be launch (same pylon), ML radar is too weak, for getting some benefits from that.

What’s wrong with usage of 23ML, as FL?

I think it question. Did FL Mig-23 had same radar as regular ones?

Is it really just your imagination?

This is a very good example. I can certainly admit that the Su/MiG could use this missile, but only in the φ0 mode.

Nothing wrong with that, but it was a suitably modified aircraft.

HARM does not require any change in WCS, bad comparsion

Actually, it does. Now it is used as a shot somewhere there

of the 800 launches, only 4 were hit

Any missiles powered by radar radiation are very inaccurate. Moreover, the Su-27 and MiG-29 do not have full functionality and they are fired just for luck.
There is no mistaking a fallen or downed white rocket

Hmm hmm hmm, very inaccurate you say

Seems like you are conflating Western with Russian equipment.

It sounds like Grandma knocked down a Su-34 with a jar of cucumbers.
If the helicopter was parked, then you can hit it with any missile using coordinate input.

Because 88E have Passive+ARH seeker …

What is exploding there, the S-75 or the S-125?

Because Ukraine has no aircraft with radar emitter locaters, which are an important part of a SEAD aircraft. They have to use the seeker of the AGM-88 which is not ideal.
