I am talking about why CAS suffers unnecessarily. Its because aircraft are missing proper AGM loadouts.
Its a skill issue, not a vehicle issue in this case. You can roll over and get a perfectly fine drop using the LII pod here. I just jumped in a game. Got 5 kills, including 3 with CAS. Wasn’t an issue. I am not a Ground main, but that was the first ground map I played in a while and wasn’t hard.
That I blame on their placeholder flight model more than anything else. Though the top tier compression doesn’t help much either. But yeah, you need some half decent FnFs. Though that is why I suggest maybe the ASSTA4 as it would have brimstones
It was a progressional capability thing. The first priority was replacing things like the Tornado F3 and F4 ICE as ground attack was fine and a need for a capable QRA/air superiority fighter was needed more.
Also for the RAF, for years you had fighter pilots and mud movers and it took sometime to cross train pilots. The first squadrons to receive the typhoon was a fighter squadron originally. (I assume this may be the same for Germany)
It only took a few years for the full A2G capability to be introduced but in WT time that is likely going to be a while.
Both the prototype typhoons (which I assume we’d get) and the first generation for typhoons would be potent in A2A but very limited in CAS ( a few CBUs at most)
Unless they chose to skip them and add a typhoon with a little more A2G
I doubt you will get the USA treatment. No one else really gets shoved with “early” variants except US. You will probably get the USSR treatment where you get the 5th iteration up front.
It would be nice to get some actual prototypes… X47-B with Aim-260 when? At least with the Aim-120Ds.
Or the F/A XX would be nice. Give us something prototype that is unique…
French… meh… German… No. Germany needs to remain Unique, like Russia and the USA.
Iran currently Flys Mig-29UB, Mirage F1, & SU-24. Since the USA is getting the F14AM, should we also get the Mig-29, Mirage, & SU-24 by proxy since we are their sub tree now?
If they limited it to the YF-18 (which only carried 2 x Aim-9) and the F18E/F SH (which they have placed an order for) I wouldn’t care. But they shouldn’t get mainline F18 A/B/C/D models.
Argentina doesn’t have any f16’s yet and isn’t an official sub tree of Germany anyways, Germany doesn’t have any subtrees. So Germany can’t get an f16. If you wanted an f16 why did you grind Germany?
He didn’t grind exclusively Germany, he has multiple nations (he even has over 300 battles in the F-16A in the American tree, and has unlocked jets like the F-16C, F-15C, MiG-29SMT, and Su-27). He was likely hoping for either better CAS options or a better Top Tier Jet for Germany (since he’s currently grinding it).
Though I think its less about adding more and more about evening out what CAS there is. Germany’s best CAS is rather poorly modeled single role aircraft that has a few GBUs, vs other nations with either very long range FnF missiles like the Su-25SM3 or highly agile multi-role fighters with a good loadout like the Gripen or F-16.
I get the German’s frustration in this regard, though Im not sure what can realistically be done about it for now. Unforutnately, unlike the UK and Italy, they didnt really upgrade their Tornados in the same way, with long range stand-off weapons like the above Brimstones.
Swiss F-18 might be the best that Germany can hope for I think, but they dont have much A2G iirc. After that its the slight upgrade of the Tornado ASSTA3.1 and then wait for Tranche 2 Typhoons
That’s pretty silly, but could be sillier.
This is a rocket pod carried by the jf17.
Each rocket pod carries 16 90mm guided rockets.
The jf17 can carry 4 of these pods for a total of 64 agms.
Brimstones can be ripple fired off and the aircraft can turn away, the missiles will go off and find targets, communicate with each other so they all hit a different target and then identify the weakspot on the target to hit. Brimstone 1s have a range of about 20km but Brimstone 2 have more like 60km range :P
Though i mguessing if/when we get Brimstones they’ll basically use the same code as AGM-65s.
Though those guided rocket pods are kinda cool. I think quite a few US aircraft have something similar and I dont htink theyd be all that OP.
Yeah I’m not super sure about the range, the American ones in game have 6 miles of range when fired from a stationary helicopter so I’d imagine they’d have a bit more range seeing as they’re 90mm rockets instead of 70mm and will be fired off a supersonic jet. Still less than those brimstones. I’m just excited to shoot 64 guided rockets at an unsuspecting f15.
