Put the F-2A ADTW at 12.7 or keep it at 13.0 and give AIM-7P's

Not everyone wants to grind to one of the most maneuverable jets to do BVR with it, I didn’t grind to the F-16A ADF and JAS39EBS HU C to do BVR with it.

  1. not entirely sure wtf that was since the radar also shouldn’t have even locked onto the chaff

  2. sidelobing, missile had no maneuvering left to do when the radar finally left launch mode

  3. if i can get a launch warning from 6km behind an F-14, it’s not too unreasonable to say the F-2’s radar has 3km backward sidelobe especially when the radar was gimballed to the limit

to be fair you can fight at low altitude but you’re at a significant disadvantage and an easier / more readily available missile target especially since the multipath meta is pretty much dead with the advent of top-down sniping

You don’t BVR in them anyways at alt.

You get closer to joust with enemies

In my opinion it’ll sound like skill issue to you but, I think BVR should have its own matchmaking

nah BVR is just kinda dead, 90% of missiles launched are WVR

i’ve never died nor gotten a kill in true BVR outside of custom battles with my friends

last year in may the game was so good every match there was 1 or 2 people doing BVR now it’s nearly all the team

Hmm, makes sense.

Maybe I was wrong and what I thought was TRK MEME is literally just sidelobing.

I’ll ask some other people who can hopefully confirm what you’re saying.

BVR isn’t really a thing in those brs.

Only F-14s or idiots do it, which you shouldn’t be dying to as long as you’re awake

what you think track mem was doing, is actually just helping the radar provide sidelobe illumination.

track mem MIGHT provide target coordinates for uplink capable missiles like the R-27 and 7P, but largely what’s actually happening is that track memory is pointing your radar as close to the target as it can which provides sidelobe illumination.

Hell, the best ranked top tier Fox-3’s all have good WVR performance, but subpar BVR performance

I died in a gripen while multipathing at 5 meters while deploying chff and flares to an AIM-120A

Hmm, good to know. Thanks

the problem with your idea of track memory is that your idea of it makes absolutely zero fucking sense in the grand scheme of things, especially when a readily available explanation exists:

sidelobing is hella exaggerated

warhead has a kill range of more than 5 meters

  1. Flares don’t do anything to radar missiles
  2. Chaff doesn’t help against PD filters unless you’re notching
  3. You’re flying too low

gonna flare an AIM-120 and chaff an AIM-9

Yes I’m multipathing it shouldn’t hit me
