PSA: Just because event exists, doesn't mean you've to participate in it

Yea these events are nothing more than a Cash grab. There is 0 value for the game or community in them. 100% just P2Play bullshit and Gajin once again showing that they have not changed. Hence why my negative review on any side will not go away and will be extended.

Also gaijin uses UTC time for events which makes grinding even harder.Sometimes those challenges start during night.

Yeah theres no need to.

The more people that participate in these market manipulation events, the more Gaijin will think that these abusive practices are allowed by the community…

Make no mistake. This is purely a cash grab by way of the market. That’s why the tasks get more incomplete-able each new event. Being a premium account holder isn’t good enough for Gaijin. They ALWAYS want more!

I never grind these event, they’re largely for the top 1% of the 1% of dedicated players.

However, the new restriction on selling parts in the marketplace is a bit much, because it means that people who really want one of the vehicles will have a harder time getting them, since players who do grind the events will have to go through 2 cycles before they can even sell them, likely leading to lower supply overall.

How are battle pass vehicles essential to a tech tree?

every event the grind is just slightly worse, the rewards are slightly worse and now you cant even grind GJN cause they don’t want F2P players getting a free premium for grinding the game.

i’m just about fed up with all this nonsense. the game feels like it is barely any fun anymore given all the current problems which is a real shame

The event vehicles are only free for people that are willing to play all day every day, and are also good at the game. For everyone else those vehicles are premium vehicles you buy with GJN, with the prices determined by the player market.
I will continue enjoying the game by playing how I want to: NOT all goddam day. I enjoy playing other games or doing other things too.

EBRs - specific light tanks for France.

Cent 2 - how is it not? This is not some random vehicle.

Not every vehicle that has appeared, but where they really should be available to all (not a Premium version). So to be more accurate, some of the BP main prizes should have been tech tree considering what they are and where they sit in a nation’s tree.

Miss them and its £100. Why not provide non-Premium versions since this has been done multiple times before?

Ok now I understand what you meant. Yeah, they are. Many event vehicles are in the same position. The LOSAT should be a tech tree vehicle. Same goes for Merkava 3D, and M8 at the very least.

Also cant forget that we cant complete these events. You can only get 2/4 vehicles.

This crafting event is less difficult than all previous crafting events from my perspective.
2 extra days, on top of a 6 limit instead of 4.
Based on points instead of minimum activity match time so it rewards all players that are more active and not just players that aim for above 50% activity.

We may disagree and that’s okay. I just hope our disagreement doesn’t cause either of us stress.

Bad take, worse analogy to use for your argument.

There are 24hrs in a day.
168hrs in a week.
The event isn’t even 2 weeks long.

Take into the account the average man and woman works 40hr weeks, that then leaves 128hrs left. However, that is not all available for free-time. What if they have family to take care of or other obligations? What if they work multiple jobs? What about sleep?

This isn’t about effort, it’s about time.
Gaijin has never, ever created events that had any modicum of respect towards the average working man in regards to time. The events have only ever been crafted to extort us through FOMO.

It’s not about difficulty. It’s about time required to do it and intentional design to make people pay instead.

Pay for what? You can only buy crates on consoles from my knowledge.
Otherwise you’re reliant on players offering materials on the market if you want items as a full-time worker.

@GNDM_Panzer
Congrats, no game company has. Nor will they, because events across all games aren’t balanced around workers, they’re balanced around people with free time.

That’s more or less how the industry works, unfortunately. MMOs require constant participation to keep the matches populated. It’s a constant ball juggling game. As such, FOMO is a powerful motivator to get people to log in and play now because procrastinating is not an option.

Personally, my motivation to play this game comes from a pure desire to get better at it. But I understand that I’m an outlier, and many players are different. That should be kept in mind, because it colours my feedback to the devs (or rather the game’s community managers). But here comes the feedback all the same, such as it is.

With that said, however: I play a lot. I have no trouble keeping up with the battle pass, and with grinding events too if the vehicles interest me, but crafting events are such a headache to get into. I read the step by step guide in the devlog because I thought I might give this one a try, and halfway through the post I was like nah, no way I’m going to bother with this.

That strikes me as… suboptimal, because if it’s a turn off for someone that already plays multiple hours a day, I suspect some recalibration is needed.

Then they (and here also “I”, because most of those aspects apply to me as well) can chose (or are forced) to not participate in the event.

In the event you CAN win something, if you want. Nothing is taken away from you if you don’t participate! So if you don’t have the time for it, or don’t want to spend the time for it, just don’t do the event!

I made the decision: not interesting enough for me (this time), so I won’t put extra effort into the event. But I’m not jealous of those who want and can do the event.

I think we can get the vehicles also in the market, after the event. Judging from the type of the vehicles and their “potential for greatness” (or lack thereof), I don’t expect them to sell very expensively.

Of course, the argument will come “why do I have to pay for it! I’can’t or don’t want to buy it!”. Well, ok, then don’t.

That’s the core point of mine: I’m not automatically entitled to get something for free and for little effort! The manufacturer is not obliged to provide everything for free, he can decide to put it behind a paywall or “effort-wall”, and that should be possible without his customers getting too worked up about it.

Especially if what you can get is not something that offers an unfair advantage over others who don’t own it and thus create a pay2win situation. Which - again judging from the vehicles we talk about here - will most probably not be the case in my opinion. LOSAT may be a unique vehicle in playstyle, but I don’t think it will be an unbeatable superweapon…

Could they at least make the event completable? I think only the first building event was completable.

If crafting events doesn’t limit how much of the materials you can get in a day then maybe it’d be a bit bearable but nope, not to mention that each stages are only open for one day so if you have a life then it’s pretty much impossible to get even 1 top reward.

So you either have to open your wallet to buy it on the marketplace you really want a certain vehicle or obtaIn it via the occasional lootboxes/gacha seasons if you’re feeling lucky.

I understand that War Thunder is a f2p game and the devs has to make money somehow but this is just straight up greedy, and what’s the event is for if it’s only doable for people that doesn’t have anything to do but playing videogames while those with a job irl has to open up their wallet to buy the event vehicles on the marketplace.
