Proof of LDIRCCM capability in IIR against Laser DIRCM

Very nice work and explanation. As it stands now we dont have Imaging InfraRed seekers modeled into the game yet so im guessing thats why they dont work that way. Since the most advanced IR missiles just have a dual IRCCM seeker (Gate width + Seeker shut off).

But lets say this gets fixed/added and missiles like the IRIS-T SLM completely ignore DIRCM, wouldn’t that make using helicopters at top tier completely useless? Or if we get IIR for AAM on jets, literally no jet would have a chance of defeating an incoming IIR missile. Im curious how the balancing would work with these missiles.

We might need to find research papers for this, because we dont know how susceptible would the IIR seekers would be by itself, but would still be close to normal cameras.

a simple 1 watt laser can cause damage to cameras.

president S can do 3.5 kVA under short bursts, 1.2 under normal.

IR

For taking down whole drones, we are talking about seekers here. 30 kw lasers can easily destroy drones itself
Plus causing damage to the seeker doesn’t mean physically melting it, just causing enough heat to destroy its crystal structure.

plus i wouldnt call it tiny

Thousands of players don’t even play BRs where they can see LDIRCM helicopters, so of course you won’t get traction needed to get Gaijin to budge.

Nah, historical accuracy is the stupid one in here and people using it are just coping to the maximum.
Gaijin had opportunities and still have to remove fiction from our games but they don’t want to.

Historical accuracy in this game is just wishful thinking.

Lets not pretend the mistake of fictional vehicles can’t be fixed right this moment by actually hard removing all in game files related to those things. They simply don’t want to do that, implying historical accuracy is just a marketing trick.

That’s something that really needs to be fixed, +1

12.0 - 13.0 range in GRB definitely doesn’t hold the majority of players in GRB.
Meanwhile economy changes were affecting every single BR.

I knew you would have troubles understanding this.

This is a very important issue and it has to be corrected

LDIRCM on helicopters is just too powerful and it makes gameplay simply unfun

Takes away all the skill of defending against missiles

People who wish for historical accuracy when that means they will have to face loitering munitions in their T-72A (QN-506 is missing its loitering munition drones):

Or their modern anti-KE ERA being completely invalidated by anti-era tipped darts

Or their early IR missiles chasing off false targets when fired against the terrain

Im not trying to defend LDIRCM on helis… but launching a FnF missile on a heli which he cant defend isn’t really skillful either if I may say.

There is a serious problem with balancing things like this.

It is very easy and possible to defeat fnf atgms (except for the LMUR)

Most these missiles are very slow so they can be outran

Sure it means you have to fly away a significant distance from the battlefield until they are slow enough to outmaneuver/guidance timeout but you’ll still be alive after it

right let me rephrase, how about an IRIS-T SLM. If LDIRCM gets nerfed to the point where it cant counter a missile like that heli gameplay is dead at top tier then.

It doesn’t hold the majority, yet it’s the most sought after BR as Gaijin does it best to sell you top tier vehicles…

So, what’s the verdict here? Should the ten of thousands of players who play top tier screw themselves? Like what? This is an urgent matter for those who actually care about the health of the game at top tier, and it’s not “just a few” that play it, you are being disingenuous.

“Oh well, this surely isn’t the most popular BR, therefore it should not get any fixes and rot” - So stupid.

Oh easily, turn side on and flare (it’s awfully reliable)
Or just use terrain to break line of sight

well terrain isnt always there to save you on certain maps (fields of poland lets say). And I havent seen a heli ever sucessfully flare a IRIS-T missile. And if you buff them additionally with IIR seekers then there wont be any saving for helis

whats wrong with fixing LDIRCM anyways? Its a good change
I feel like the people that oppose only wants to have broken stuff to play w because they want to sleep and still get free kills

Use the helipad buildings then

Womp womp honestly

Helis have been abused by low skill players for too long

true, I was never a fan of helis but just think how mad people would get if all of their hard earned research points went to waste researching their helis just to be useless due to a change.
There has to be some way to balance things out and not always favour one side.

They can just get better at the game

Learning how to use terrain for cover, launching with IOG, relocating after each shot, preflaring should all be necessary skills for helicopter pilots at top tier

It’s so weird that we have these odd characters that oppose changing LDIRCM to realistic levels, ain’t it.

This can’t go on for any longer, the easiest and dirtiest way to “fix” LDIRCM would be to implement a maximum missile jam capability to helicopters, until IIR imagers/home-on-jam and IOG+DL guidance is modelled for IRIS-T.

Even with the premium trick top tier has pretty lame player numbers, as seen how WW2 German vehicles are holding their own against the all so popular wallet warrior vehicles like E1 or Click-Bait.

First of all, I never said only a “few” players are playing at top tier.
It’s just my response to Armen who naively believes top tier community is large enough to force Gaijin to listen to their opinion. People at Gaijin obviously have their own plans about the game and how things should be balanced.

Don’t act surprised now, this game has a track record of making CAS really powerful at the expense of ground vehicles and SPAAs. What we have right now is just CAS being balanced as intended by Gaijin.

What’s stupid here is the fact you think your moaning on the forum will get them to listen and change their whole idea about the game and how things should be balanced. I already explained this to you above.

it does

if you keep staring at a laser despite the tingling sensations and the very noticable heating of ur cornea and the ensuing pain then yes prolonged exposure will cause damage although i trust you wouldnt do that to yourself

instantaneous transfer of heat energy sufficient to destroy the cornea isnt even possible by the suns direct rays. what makes you think a low power IR base laser DIRCM can?
