Press M For Map and game crashes to desktop

Your having a different crash that sounds more like your PC isnt anywhere close to the recommended minimums or your OS has become unstable, your most likely overdrawing power and tripping internal protections. I’m seeing a Buffer Dump happening I’ve started to notice it with running programs that were developed back when 32 bits was the standard still I get the exact same thing in Gmod or MC, all the same thing the games ram expectations are not set up properly then the game will overflow itself capping its allocated RAM. Anyways last comment for me I’m a new user.

I had these kind of crashes too over a period of like 6 to 8 months. I too opened ticket after ticket, but they couldn’t say anything on how and why it was crashing.

Last month I decided, just to test things out, to turn off DLSS.

No crashes since.

I brought it up in the support ticket but it was then promptly closed by none other than KightoftheAbyss, who just said to play without DLSS enabled.

I find it very unprofessional how my tickets were handeled generally, especially by KightoftheAbyss.

So my solution was: Turning off DLSS.

Hope I could help

Tried a lot of things, a long list of things given by Gaijin support - probably with the intention of stonewalling as the list looks pretty daunting. But as i’m computer illiterate I persevered. This list of actions proved pretty inconclusive as it was a a list on generalised actions maybe to baffle and confuse and ward peps off lol.

My system is all new in march April and was bleeding edge then. The CTD started 6 mths ago for me - just checked the Gaijin support ticket.

A long time to have this issue present with no resolution in sight for the many users affected.

TBH now it has only affected me once in the last week 2 weeks, I play few times a week, maybe one game a day to keep the signings active and daily stuff coming through. The odd occasion I will stay for 3 - 4 games and that’s it.

I have everything on max and DLSS on with quality selected - I don’t know if I CBA to troubleshoot with it off as at the moment I not racking up enough consistent time in WT for the results to not be skewed by the lack of playing.

DCS is my saviour…

It’s started happening to mine now!

Any fix yet?

2 posts above yours, turn off DLSS seems to have resolved for them. I’ve not tried it.

Though had a few CTD’s yesterday, random ones and also pressing M for map.

Unfortunately, turning of DLSS has not fixed the issue for me. The game still regularly crashes in this situation. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Played a bit more today. Got one crash report 3f8555b3b4 and a fair few CTD at the end of the match or near end.

Lost one plane to the CTD’s other than that still pretty miserable having this happen so often.

were you replying to my comment for someone else?!?! Im honestly trying to understand what your saying. If you were replying to the other things yea a RAM dump might be a hard thing to grasp or whatever your implying, I just have seen enough crashes to know how they affect a computer. The guy up there was talking about a BSOD (blue screen of death), You guys keep mentioning CTDs (crash to desktop). A BSOD would imply there is a overload that can damage the computer where as a CTD can be anything really but more likely in this case and this is just a convoluted guess failure in programming causing a 1 in IDK 500 case where a digit is replaced and it enters a loop state say trying to load a UI (user interface) element and it fills up the RAM with streamed updates that reoccur then the allocation of ram for the game gets hit and it dumps the memory.

Not sure which post you’re referring to. I looked for the quote function but couldn’t find, makes replying a bit of a random thing for the reader.

No one (except one) is having BSOD, just the game CTD at random time or after a certain key, “m” for me, is pressed.

Ah, just scrolled up and yes I did reply to you but missed that you had infact replied to someone else about computer specs and the like.

This new forum needs a bit of work to get it a bit more useful.

Replying to add that I am also having this issue and have tried everything short of a complete factory reset/fresh windows install and have not found a fix. its been happening ever since I upgraded my graphics drivers and funny enough I was able to play for a while after downgrading my game ready drivers back to Version 535 but updated cause I needed to for another game.

The last thing I want to do is factory reset my pc so unfortunately I may just have to accept that I wasted money on the premium account and uninstall forever at this point. Only thing I can think of is some new windows defender BS that is causing this. But I also don’t wanna remove windows Defender from my PC.

I noticed I can launch x32 version from nvidia experience so maybe ill play a bit on that version and see if its an x64 issue.

Replying to my own message for info reasons.

First death in x32 version resulted in a CTD so that wasn’t it. I really wish this crash came with a report so that we could actually diagnose the issue

It’s a great shame that Gaijin, from all we can see are totally ignoring this problem - maybe it is only affecting a few users and not worth the effort for Gaijin to resolve. I’m sort of hoping not as for all its bugs, issues(?) I still enjoy War Thunder.

I also understand that every piece of software out there has faults\bugs and requires work from the user base to evolve and improve so not singling out or wanting to poke the bear. Butttttt comeon enough already, it’s been over six months since I first reported this to Gaijin.

Can I ask all of YOU that read this post to;

Click on I have this issue on my support post [HERE](Community Bug Reporting System)

Add a comment to the support request if you will, even create your own support case. We need to get numbers up so Gaijin can see that this is a problem for many.

Cheers

6 days and no CTD’s for me…

came here to say the same thing. I’ve been working all through the christmas holidays but came back last night.

-Updated War Thunder
-Fresh install of NZXT CAM
-Changed graphics settings to the HIGH preset
-Removed all user content in settings and also removed all decals on my vehicles.

I am not sure which one made the difference but if you haven’t crashed since the update then I would imagine they have found the issue and fixed it. All we can do now is hope is stays running fine for the foreseeable future!

I literally just had it happen two games in a row so it’s def not fixed still

No, it’s not fixed. Just literally had a CTD after dying in a plane GRB.

CTD’s coming through thick and fast now - even got one crash report, cce6f641bc, for what goo it’s worth!

Hey guys im new to this forum stuff but since 1 week i get randomly this crashes and i dont see any resolutions for this i tryed everything this far. But the lucky part for me is i see some other ppls have the same issue so im not alone. I hope gaijin will fix this problem cause i feel like its a client problem not my hardware or stuff but its sad having time to play and get CTD all the time sometimes every match other times after 2 hours.

Sorry to hear your suffering the same CTD’s as some of us.

Appears not a lot you can do and as you say it’s more than likely a WT client issue and not your hardware.

You can mark this Gaijin support request with “you have the same issue”

Some good may eventually come out of it!
