Bell P-59A
Whilst designed as a fighter it’s mediocre performance saw it spending its life giving pilots and engineers experience of jet engine mechanics and tactics. I’m sure a P-59B would be welcomed in the Tech Tree.

I mean it uses F-16D as a base, I don’t know if it’s only used as a fighter or not by Israel.
We were talking about Barak II. Although if Israel modified F-16I from F-16D, so using fighter-trainer variant airframe, it should be listed too, by OP criteria.

Vickers Wellington (yes and no)
With the introduction of the 4 engined bombers in to wideapread RAF service an increasing number of Wellingtons were used as multi engined and crew trainer in OCUs. The variants in game could equally be Frontline or OCU aircraft depending on teh skin used.
Note these differed from the full trainer conversion (T.XVII - T. X) in that unlike their brethren they frequently retained all relevant operation equipment and armament provisons. In fact for the 1000 bomber raids in May/June 1942 a number of OCUs contributed aircraft and crews to enable the numbers to be reached.
Also this is different case to the myriad of other types such as Spitfires, Hurricanes, Blenheims etc use in OCUs that were frequently obsolescent variants and would not be released for active duties.
Any specific variants of the Wellington? Or is it just every Wellington bar the German one
Without recalling precisely what took part in the 1000 bomber raids it’s hard to tell for sure, however a few deductions can be made.
I would say mostly the Mk. III & X that overlapped the 4 engined replacements the most in squadron service would be the most likely to be reactivated.
The early IA would have been gone or converted, and whilst the Ic certainly saw use as a trainer I doubt they would have been truly considered dual role once the better performing later variants were in service. Once retired to training they probably would have stayed there.

It’s a pity Gaijin didn’t stretch to adding A6M2-K and A6M5-K trainers.
They would be similar to their standard single seater brothers but restricted to just the nose MGs and bombs. I’ve seen reports of them seeing combat, as well as Kamikaze mission, although it seems often it was because of the encroaching enemy rather than through choice.
I don’t know of these really count but you have stuff like:
F1M1 had a trainer variant
P-26s were sold as “trainers” to Guatemala
Ba.65 also had a trainer variant
WM-21 Sólyom was transfered to trainer duties as war advanced
he-111 had a lot of trainer variants
he-51 was technically an “advanced trainer”

Italy AMX (I know it’s a striker but it’s designed from a trainer and I think it may be dual role)
