I’d like to open a discussion about the current state of the Premium F-2A ADTW, especially when compared to other premium aircraft around the same battle rating.
At its current BR, the Premium F-2A ADTW is limited to AIM-7M Sparrow as its primary radar-guided missile. In the current premium meta, this puts it at a clear disadvantage. AIM-7Ms are heavily affected by notching, multipathing, and general countermeasures, making them far less reliable in modern top-tier matches.
Meanwhile, premium Su-30 variants at the same BR are receiving Fox-3 missiles, giving them a massive advantage in BVR combat. Active radar homing missiles allow for fire-and-forget gameplay, better survivability, and more flexibility in engagements—things the Premium F-2A ADTW currently lacks entirely.
This creates an imbalance where:
-The Premium F-2A ADTW must fully commit to radar locks and guidance
-Competing premium aircraft can disengage immediately after launch
-The F-2A ADTW struggles to compete in long-range or high-altitude fights
Given that this aircraft is a premium and shares the same BR as Fox-3–equipped premium aircraft, it feels unfairly limited. If premium Su-30s are considered balanced with Fox-3s at this BR, then the F-2A ADTW should receive similar treatment to remain competitive and appealing.
I’m not asking for overperformance—just parity. Either the Premium F-2A ADTW needs access to Fox-3 missiles or some other meaningful improvement to justify its BR and premium status in the current top-tier environment. It should either get Fox-3, or get a lower BR.
I’d be interested to hear what others think, especially players who own or frequently face the Premium F-2A ADTW.
Unforutnately, Fox-3s (assuming also AAM-4) would instantly propel it up to 13.7 kind of range. Su-30s just need to get a BR increase and that was before todays major buff.
But ultimately 12.0-14.3 is just a compressed mess at the moment which needs fixing ASAP.
It cant go lower. Its already actually quite strong for the BR if you compare to something like the Belgium F-16A which only has 6x Aim-9Ms whilst the F-2A ADTW has 4x AAM-3 and 4x Aim-7M, on a better platform, with better kit.
Let alone if you mention the Netz at 12.7 with just 6x Python-3s. Not even an IRCCM missile
As for Aim-7Ps, you would have to prove that the F-2 had those, which I doubt.
The only remaining buff is a decompression, which is needed for many aircraft at and around that BR.
We need to decompress top tier, it doesnt make sense having planes at 12.7 with only FOX 2s without IRCCM (ex.: Netz) and then at 13.3 having planes with PL12s + PL8s, R77s + R73s (The new premium SUs, J11A and others). Then you have planes at 13.7/14.0 like the F2A and the Sufa that are being “destroyed” because you cant put them in a lower BR because it would make it unbalanced and at the current BR they are fighting planes with 10+ missiles + other factors that makes them less enjoyable. And Im not even going to talk about the F16 OCU from Thailand, I dont know how that thing can be at 13.7
Multipath is a gamble — you have to pray the map has places for you to hide, like mountains. If not, then it needs to be flat with few trees, Then pray that you don’t get damaged by flash damage. And after you somehow manage to get through all of that, congratulations: the enemy is now at your 12 o’clock, right above you. So, which IR missile would you like to get hit to go back to the lobby?
I don’t think you get to choose. Truly an amazing gameplay experience for 13.0 vehicles.
The only fix is decompression. The only meta at 13.0 are the flankers as their 27ER are competitive in an uptier where long range engagements are much more important than close range ones, and then Fox 3 carriers. The F2A used to be better after some 14.0 were moved up, and before the new Fox 3 spam ar 13.3, where they basically added Su27SM at 13.3 for everyone.
One other thing they could fix is radar lock, it seems that the radar is much better at tracking in TWS mode than a hard lock, and it tends to lose a hard lock on its own without the enemy doing anything.
