Potential buffs for AH1Z cobra

Following my post on DAIRCM for the AH1Z and AH6M. This is my thread on potential buffs fot the AH1Z. This can future proof the AH1Z and make it viable in the future.

Along with DAIRCM the AH1Z can get a few other neat gizmos that can be added.

First off is a variant of the Longbow radar. Called the Cobra Fire Control Radar. This was tested back in 2016 to 2018 but is not currently deployed.

This picture also has inert agm114L longbow hellfires.

AGM179A JAGM

The AH1Z hit IOC of JAGM in 2022 and operationaly deploys JAGM as of 2025. If the rumors are true and we are getting AH64E with JAGMs this upcoming patch i dont see why the AH1Z shouldnt get JAGMs.

Aim9x

Recently the AH1Z has gotten a power upgrade that has allowed then to mount aim9x as shown above. This would be pretty funny as a counter to TY90s on the chinese helicopter.

Any other neat gizmos and thoughts would be much appreciated. I know that as of recently an IR guided APKWS to target slow flying aircraft and drones has been developed and deployed on the f16 f18 and the SH/MH60. But i have found no evidence as of yet of it being deployed on the AH1Z. This would also be a fun addition to spam at other helis and drones. But i dont see it being super useful for jets.

Edit:

AN/APR-39D(v)2
APR-39D is a fully digital version of APR-39 that provides increased sensitivity and bandwidth coverage along with greater processing power. This will gice the AH1Z increased awareness to modern systems like pantsir locking onto it.

JAGM-MR
JAGM-MR is JAGM but instead of the dual mode radar and SALH seeker it is a trimode radar, SALH, TV seeker with link16 datalink and double the range of 10mi or 16km.

since were possibly getting trailer tommorow we will know for sure

unless were getting some botched version of JAGM similiar to bothced brimstones that will be SALH only, i somehow doubt that mmw seekers will be added to game anytime soon

Here’s a few off the top of my head,

Red Wolf Long range standoff missile

Mk 149 Mod 0 / Mk244 Mod 0 20mm APDS

ATAS (FIM-92A, C & -E)

AGM-65 (unknown variant(s), likely -65B or -65K)

APR-39A(V)2

For WT purposes the -39A(V)2 Adds aural warning over the current APR-39, and increased low band performance
(for the most part are pointless unless static TEL & Fire Control radars sites apear)

"The upgraded system is intended for helicopters and other non-high performance aircraft. It is capable of detecting and providing alerts to the aircrew of surface to air missile and anti-aircraft artillery associated pulsed, pulsed Doppler, and continuous wave radar activities identified from a software programmable threat library. In addition to the cockpit video display, the APR-39A (V)2 provides the aircrew with synthetic speech audio threat warnings, facilitating a “hands on/heads up” aircrew posture,

~~

The system retains the former APR-39A (V)1 low band vertically polarized blade antenna"."

The AH1Z should flat out have the APR-39(v)2. It never had the (v)1. Although AH-1Z was recently upgraded to the APR-39D(v)2. AH1Z never got mavericks but it would be interesting to make a suggestion thread for the AH1W on it. Red Wolf would be neat but there just isnt enough info on it yet.

Isn’t the basic AGM-179 just another 8km SALH missile

US helis are saved 🙄

Looks like a 1W in the image, and it has to sacrifice a stub pylon
oof

If gaijin insists on it being 11.0 I’d rather see 9Ms, and 9X on the Viper.

im not aware that theres more than one JAGM variant, as far as i know they should have both SALH and mmw guidance in one missile similiar to brimstones.

that is unless gajin botches it like brimstone to be SALH only, making it effectively reskined hellfire.

I almost want this and the leaks to be true

US getting a reskinned Hellfire while China and Russia get CM-502 and LMUR would be something else

i-pretend-i-do-not-see-it-i-do-not-see-it

I know I’ve kinda been beating dead horse but the AGM-169 would be a really good fit for the viper. It’s pretty much a Hellfire Romeo with a tri seeker (laser, radar, IR).

It would be really dope to see IR hellfires in the game.

If implemented they could use millimeter wave radar also

That’s a very convoluted way of adding a Longbow Hellfire

The sad part about giving any helo the AGM-65 is that it has so little thrust and so much drag that if you are hovering in a AV-8B currently it just falls off the aircraft and smacks into the ground, so even if helos get them, they would just not work with how gaijin has modeled the AGM-65.

Also quick reminder to the folks here, the 114L can be fired from a aircraft that lacks a FCR, the 114L can receive pre-launch data just like every other hellfire from a targeting pod / sight and when in this mode will simply fly to the sight’s target location and then find a target on it’s own. Functionally every single helo that can carry a 114 can carry and fire the 114L.

I mean, those are the better pylons for it because you can run the hellfires on the other two, so you are just giving up a zuni pod

There is also the JAGM-MR

If it was tested on a specially modified prototype, then it would need to be added as a new vehicle. That’s why we don’t have Aim-7Bs on the F4D-1.

There is no evidence to suggest this.

It’s not a 1 off prototype.

The AH-1Ws stub pylons are for Hellfires, you can see in the image the Stinger pod + Hydras on inner wing mount.

being F+F, it’s still almost an improvement

It would be a improvement if the missiles were usable, as of now, unless you have forward airspeed on the harriers, they will not function.

If such an addition forces gaijin to rebuild the AGM-65’s flight model to allow for such I would support the addition, but with how they function now they would be literal dead weight.

If the chopper itself needs to be modified, then it needs to be a separate vehicle ingame. If it can be mounted without modifying the chopper itself, then it can be added to the existing AH-1Z ingame.

No evidence to suggest the helicopter was modified, or no evidence to suggest that that is how Gajin handles bug reports/suggestions?
