Such situations did happen with trees before, but i don’t remember ever dying to invisible ground? Is it a new bug or just horrible luck encountering such situation twice in the span of like 4 games
the first looks like a tree collision to me, you can go frame by frame on youtube using " . " and " , " on your keyboard while the video is paused. If you do that then it looks like the explosion happens on the wingtip where the tree was, just delayed.
The second video is odd because there is an explosion to your right a few frames before you crash so it might again be something other than ground but just delayed. or it might be a tree again since you do fly quite close to one just before the crash, so second vid might be the same as first.
The thing is i do not actually hit the tree in any of theese, true, i do fly “quite close” to them, but i wouldn’t say im even remotely close to an actual collision.
That has been a thing before, trees that seem to “reach out” and grab your plane.
if you really want to check then open the server replay and play back that part of the gameplay very slow to see if you can see any differences to the local replay.
in the second clip the wingtip did in fact connect with the end of leaves texture, but in the first one this is the closest i’ve been
could you link to the server replay and say at what time it happened?

Yeah, that first one does indeed look odd, there is even a collision crater on the ground below lol :P
Well i guess i just won’t go that route again, it was a bad idea anyways cause its not safe at all to try multipathing there, especially in this situation with low clouds. Also, i feel like motion blur makes the game look magnificent but also kinda disorienting, the second clip shouldn’t damage me, but at first it didn’t even look like i was as close to that tree. Anyway, hope they fix this soon, although im pretty sure the oversized trees were in the game for quite a while which is pretty bizzare considering i have clips going straight through a tree, pulling right above the ground and leaving the situation without a scratch. Anyway, thanks for the analysis, a little more confident knowing its “only” the old tree bug =)
In both videos, you hit the tree’s hitbox with its tip, generating an opposing force on the aircraft that causes it to explode in the air. So no, I don’t see any collision bug in your report! Of course, this doesn’t change the fact that such bugs do exist in the game.
Damn, I didn’t know that was a thing… Totally frame-by-framing a lot of videos now…
Right? I felt the same when i first learned of it XD
i’ve recently been having the same issue, only after the most recent update. I feel like this has to do with the fact they kinda changed the physics of the airfields?
Really hope this is a bug that they will fix, because ive died countless times trying to evade fox3’s just to crash into something
