[POLL] State of Air RB Meta Vehicles(BEST OF....)

lol, thats what J15 players thought too

Not a major issue because PL-12As have no launch limits
That matters more ngl

I guess time will tell, at least the US will have a 14.7 fighter (GE doesnt count yet)

F-15C GE is basically a 14.7 quality aircraft anyways lol
but EX could be added blahblahblah so it won’t be 14.7 and we’ll get a Su-30SM/SM2 situation again, but in the US tree

ECM kinda needed for next or next next update before 5th gen to keep 4.5 relevant

I forgot to add your favorite IX jet but your votes will likely be influenced by that anyways

I see BVR, I see close-range (10km), where’s middle-range where the SM2 does best?

Also people must be smoking something if they think the SM2 beats the EFT in BVR where range is the name of the game.

It was a hell of a grind back then, i still dont know how i have aim7 on it

I laughed while doing this poll because I was pressing Su-30SM2 all the way

  • Best BVR? A Su-30SM2 camping the notch while shooting back.
  • Best WVR? A Su-30SM2 camping the notch while shooting back.
  • Best All-Rounder? Su-30SM2
  • Best CAS? You guessed it. Su-30SM2
  • Best missile? The missile the Su-30sm2 carries lol. Mica is strong but R-77-1 wins at being good at every job
  • Best TT? The one that hosts the Su-30SM2, of course. Since it also has competitive jets in all BR’s.

Didn’t win best-looking jet for me, though. So 1/10 overall needs a buff.

Lol at SM2 winning “best BVR”. Peak NATO-mains democracy right here . R-77-1 is mid beyond 20-25 km and gets outranged/out-energied by many of the top-tier missiles, and the ERs may be fast, but they can be notched. Yet somehow the plane that carries it is the BVR king according to this poll. Funny how the vote always aligns with whatever the US/NATO crowd mains, crying about the “russian bias”. Real proof isn’t forum polls — go watch 10-20 actual top-tier ARB matches and see which planes are getting the first BVR kills. It ain’t the SM2 spam.

Best under 10KM Dogfighter, SM2 voted 2nd place. Obvious. Anyone who thinks SM2 is a top dogfighter clearly hasn’t tried fighting a decent EF, JAS 39, opponent inside 10 km. That matchup is suicide. You bleed energy like crazy. TVC and R-73 don’t save you when the other guy has better energy retention and can actually sustain the fight. Many of you complain about the game not being realistic, ok, agree, but before that, let’s try to be reasonable and objective. SM2 is strong because of radar + missile spam, not because it’s a dogfighter.

So can every other ARH and SARH missile. That’s why you only die in BVR if you have a skill issue, unless you’re fighting multiple people at once, and even then it’s often avoidable.

The SM2 can just camp the notch and spam missiles at you even at very short ranges. If you somehow can get into a merge you still have to deal with a thrust-vectoring jet that will keep spamming missiles at you till you die.

The SM2 is only a bad dogfighter if it spends all the missiles, and it carries plenty of them.

You essentially only played the premium Su-30MK2 and the Su-30SM2. That’s about your whole AirRB experience. You have no clue how easy they have it.

In an actual merge against a competent Eurofighter or Rafale, the flanker bleeds energy fast, recovery is mediocre, and TVC only helps for a couple of high-AoA nose points before you’re a slow target. Having 12 missiles is a huge advantage, but it doesn’t make it a top dogfighter, it just means you can avoid the dogfight longer. Once the missiles are gone (or the other guy forces a real turning fight), the airframe shows its limits. It’s a flying bus.

The only jet that has a decent chance of winning before merging is the rafale. After merging, the SM-2 is arguably the strongest. If you go 1C you play to its advantage, if you go 2C you allow it to missile spam you.

R-73 will be hard to flare in some aspects, R-27ER can often track you with no escape at short distances. And R-77 are currently acting like a ARH R-73 with lots of range to boot, can be used in very short ranges and in weird aspects

Pretty much all true except for the BVR bit.

The acceleration is subpar compared to at least the Eurofighter, Rafale and J-16, so while they’ll (Raf/EFT) be at 1900kmh you’ll be at 1400/1500 at best, giving you much less energy to the missile at launch.

Don’t quite understand how camping in a notch makes it the best at BVR when it’s literally about getting high and fast as soon as possible, which the SM2 is bad at.

Guiding in a notch is op and no one denies it, but using it to say that is op for BVR is not quite right, especially when you shoot in said notch and the missile has already bled half it’s energy with only the first pull.

Edit:

Rafale might be fast as hell but lacks a good long range missile, if it had a new Mica it would be another story.

Eurofighter on the other hand has amraams, which, even with less overall range than PL-12A and R-77-1 is still launched by a fast platform, like mentioned before.

BVR is not just getting high and fast and try to get long range kills. Only idiots would kill each other in the first couple jousts.

Even with altitude and speed advantage, you cannot really pressure the Su-30SM2 unless you have a teammate helping you from a different angle.

Also, the R-27ER is the best missile (with the SM2 radar) for medium to long ranges when fighting 1 guy because of its quirks like being harder to notch and the ability to unlock and relock midflight to avoid giving early warnings. Also you cannot judge the distance that the R-27ER is from you from the RWR, unlike any other fox3.

And since you can guide the R-27ER from the notch with the SM2 or even while going cold/running away, it’s a very dangerous weapon.

You are forgeting that the SM2 can push more and shoot its missiles later at shorter range in BVR because it can just run to the notch right after and still guide the missiles just fine while leaving plenty of room to adjust the notch angles for the multiple missiles comming at you

The EF AESA also has a wide gimbal, but sometimes it’s not enough and forces you to lose targets when attacked from multiple angles.

Another important thing is, you cannot push the SM2 out by yourself, and if you manage to put it into a pure defensive position it will still fight back without having to risk eating your missiles at all.

Most of my kills with any fox3 (including the old aim120) are from HOBS. I intentionally don’t point my nose at people so they don’t feel as threatened. And often even after I launch my missile in HOBS they don’t react right away because they probably assume i’m not shooting at them… Then it’s too late.

I actually sometimes prefeer the slower turning of the aim-120 so I can create that illusion even better, because an R-77 or mica would point itself at you far sooner.

But for strictly “traditional BVR” either the SM2 or the EF AESA are the strongest. The EF wins on kinematics and defensive suit, but the SM2 has the better loadout and radar.

In a 1v1 starting at BVR the EF has little chance against the SM2. But it’s a good jet if you have a team to support, but so is the SM2

GOAT stay winning

if Chinese players got the 300° gimbal width they wanted for J-16 that would be something

anyways I forgot the middle grounds which would be 20km I’m guessing?

Cause they’re stupid.

All those just making it not an sm2 and instead just a su27sm with aesa, pl12s, slighlty better rwr, better engines, and a maw, or a j15t with double the cm 2 less pl8s and better engines but awful wing rip speed (bugged) amd no carrier hook

F-18 or F-15 didn’t win best looking?

Where the hell are all the American players!?
