I am not indicating you are doing anything wrong. I understand you and many others have a ton of frustrations about the state of the game etc. They do seem rather justified.
I am merely reminding the community that @Pacifica is your biggest advocate and voice. It is literally why he does what he does and choses to do it.
However, he is a community member like anyone else and has his own opinions about the state of the game and where it should go. The best thing is that he is always willing to hear you out anytime.
Opinions change and who knows, maybe you and productive community feedback can get the ball rolling and accomplish what you all desire.
I think what pacifica underlined was the existance of a secret roadmap ,one never discussed formally. To my knowledge the whole map issue arose out if the blue.No mention of maps was made on the latest roadmap discussion. It was more what Pacifia said than the fact he or she said it. Its like they let slip something.
Yeah Yeah 10 years ago when i was new in this game why the game doesn’t handholding players like me who got sniping from nowhere it instead let me learn the hard way until i leaned how to counter them.
Why that sht not apply the same to them nowadays? i wonder
One of my biggest issues with these map changes is that there was no vote to let the community decide.
Also looking at the changes it was clearly done in haste by someone who does not play the game or understands the various nuances and flow of the maps throughout the many different tiers we have in game. They removed the diversity in engagements areas of the map allowed instead of leaving those areas alone and actually fixing the real issues like sight-lines into spawn which was the only real problem a majority of some maps had.
What also pisses me off is that they outright removed the original version from the game , why not leave the original maps in game and in rotation ? Why not let us vote what map we enjoy playing on.
These map changes are by far the stupidest and most detrimental change they have to date implemented to the game at least in my opinion . Why in gods name are portions of them being made out of bounds ,maps outright reduced in size especially at tier 8.0 + where larger maps are direly needed .
@Pacifica
If the devs actually want to do whats best for the community they would increase the amount of map bans a player can have. Furthermore they would have actually asked the community about these changes before just implementing them.
Just like there is a large part of the community who wants small tiny Call of duty sized maps that require no thinking on the players part where they can press W for 5 seconds and shoot each other. There is a equally large part of the community that wants larger maps with all sorts of sight lines, terrain and flanks or regions of the map that allow small miniature battles to occur around them because of their high value in map control.
There are those of us that enjoy using vehicles and map knowledge to our advantage, no offense to the devs but clearly the implemented map changes were done without any thought whatsoever and also show the devs lack of real interest in doing whats best for the game and community. Why cant they just let us have all the previous versions of the map and let the players decide which one they would prefer ?
I do not want to be forced too play these small reduced and stupidly limited maps, I also dont want to be punished with a crew lock when I decide to leave these maps because the devs are too lazy to take any sort of player feedback before implementing asinine changes like this that affect a larger part of the community and provide us with no alternative. Many players, including myself, appreciated the original versions of the maps that allowed for diverse sight-lines and engagements. The introduction of more linear designs and the restriction of certain areas have led to game-play that is becoming more reminiscent of traditional first-person shooter experiences, lacking the strategic nuances that set War Thunder apart and many of us have grown to love.
They can have smaller maps for those players of the community that clearly just want a thoughtless FPS experience but in tanks while at the same time allow those of us who enjoyed the original maps and their larger sizes with all sorts of sights lines and points of high-value on the map to have ours .
Saying the devs care about what the community thinks clearly is not true, if they cared these changes would not have been so hastily implemented without feedback and clearly implemented by someone who clearly does not play the game/maps throughout the many different tiers.
I fully agree except one: sand of sinai in lower BR(not Top BRs):
Now in City part become as a frontline style where heavy armored tanks finally worth something (marked with green) In mid is a sneaky area(marked with magenta) where light tanks /fast tanks can flank and the dunes part(marked with aqua) give a lot of opportunity to camping or sneak to capture and hold point and win the match. Now much more opportunity added into this map which i expect earlier.
If it finally revert every map to his old form atleast keep this sand of sinai current for as map for lower BR tanks in Realistic game mode.
Mostly Japanese top tier tanks can mountain climb pretty well and smoothly lol Gaijin blocked the path but still able to climb my way there XD A spot where you won’t ever see a tank. This is why I like war thunder, the big maps, the cheesy spots, cheesy snipes etc…i really dislike CQC maps.
I prefer well designed maps, large or small. Large maps are great when they aren’t full of camping spots, and small maps when you are able to easily move around the map.
Maps that do this well are Maginot, Rhine, and Eastern Europe. (for the flanking routes)
Obviously Gaijin is a company, which has in mind to maintain its profits regardless of the players and it doesn’t matter if the changes will please players and it doesn’t matter if they will make someone stop playing it. someone else will probably take their place and keep the company’s profits. And that’s what matters in the end.
Well, I stopped playing tank for a while.
It’s obvious that within the community there are people who like different styles of play, whether in CQB or large maps (like me), and some who like to advance head-on and others who like to flank, which is sometimes necessary depending on the vehicle. used.
In my opinion, a map should be democratic, offering players the possibility of playing in their preferred style, but what is happening is that Gaijin, by reducing the map area and giving preference to smaller maps in the map rotation(in my perception), is forcing people to follow a planned style of play and in an authoritarian way forcing players (which is the life of the game),
Playing this game is no longer fun. Especially tank, and even worse from IFV and light Tanks.
They should exist like they used to so ppl actually learn to have at least basic map and battle awareness instead of just tunellvision lemingtrain to nearest corridor when enemy have to go since maps are totally ruined by red zones and cut places.
Thats why old WT was better not hand holding you learned as you go from experiance. Not some cluses dev making you go to place where enemy gonna be like now so you can have easy mode like we have now and Cas have a so much fun now since everyone is in 1 place you just drop on the same place every game and get kills.
Spots that are broken or op should never exist. Being able to shut down a huge part of the map from one singular spot is abysmal map design, way worse than stuff Gaijin is already doing. What you want is varied routes, and more places to go. OP spots is not what you actually want. Cheese is fine, OP isn’t.
I think most of the red zone changes are bad, but a couple are good, like Hurtgen Forest or Sands of Sinai.
Sniping and map knowledge should be a skill, adding an op spot that everyone will rush too isn’t skillful, it’s annoying and unbalanced.
