I'm salty after dying in my ADATS to a Kh-38 and not being able to revenge anti-CAS
Hi, I am currently just really salty and I’m gonna vent - hopefully providing useful feedback on the way. Anyways, let’s get on with the suggestion I would like to make (which is not novel in any way I might add - this has been suggested many times).
The Problem
Top tier CAS is ridiculously strong. As someone who has abused the F-16C for the past year or so, I can say with experience it has been ridiculously strong for a very long time. I have also of course been on the receiving end of CAS countless times (as we all have, no doubt). With the addition of the F-15E and Su-34, the issue has only been exasperated.
For the record, the F-15E and Su-34 are both labeled as “Strike Fighters” and therefore do not increase the cost of aircraft labeled as “Jet Fighters”. This means you are able to take both the F-15E and F-16C out for ~896 SP each (that is ~1,792 total), rather than the 896 + 1,792 = 2,688 SP it would cost to spawn two planes of the same type/designation. The same goes for the Su-27SM (or MiG-29SMT) and the Su-34.
Furthermore, only one nation in the game has a reliable SPAA platform that can counter these CAS planes - Russia with the Pantsir S1. This is not to say anything about “Russian bias”. This is to say only one side of the battle can reliably counter these planes without spawning CAP/anti-CAS or having a mixed battle.
The ItOs and FlaRakRad are also definitely potent, but it’s worth noting they are not as reliable as the Pantsir S1 is. They can work, just not as consistently. The ADATS struggles a lot considering it does not track with its radar, it only tracks with an optical lock (iirc).
My Proposition
Not too long ago Gaijin increased the SP costs to take loadouts that include Fox-3 missiles. I would like for this to change, and SP costs for planes that only take air-to-air missiles should be reduced. Ideally they would even be made lower than they were before so that it is made easier for people to do CAP/anti-CAS.
Since we have not yet received equivalent SPAA for nations other than Russia yet (like the SPYDER for Israel), I would love to see SP costs reduced for loadouts that are centered around CAP/anti-CAS. This would ideally apply to all air-to-air missiles - IR, SARH, and ARH alike.
The ADATS, for example, has no hope against someone who is properly playing the Su-34 and properly employing their Kh-38s. Israel, Italy, Japan, etc. are in an even worse position - having limited or no radar SPAA at all. Reducing SP costs for air-to-air missile loadouts would at least present an alternative until proper SPAA options can be found for the respective nations.
- Yes - Reduce SP costs for air-to-air missiles in Ground RB
- No - Keep SP costs the same for air-to-air missiles in Ground RB
