[POLL] Addition of Singaporean Vehicles to the Chinese TT

With the Community Manager response to the controversy surrounding the possible addition of the VT-4 to Thailand/Japan coming out today, we got a glimps of Gaijin’s plan to add Singaporean vehicles to the Chinese tech tree.

There has been a very large number of vocal discenters in the comments (and for good reason, in my opinion). Because of this intense debate, I wanted to create a poll for people to be able to voice their opinions and allow us to collect quantifiable data surrounding Singapore’s addition to China.

Should a Singaporean sub-tree be added to the Chinese tech tree?

In light of this discussion, here is a poll about what nation(s) you guys think should get Singapore. For the sake of avoiding personal bias, I have listed all 10 main nations that are currently in game.

Which nation(s) do you think Singapore would fit into (limit of 4).
  • United States
  • Germany
  • USSR/Russia
  • Britain
  • Japan
  • China
  • Italy
  • France
  • Sweden
  • Israel
  • None of the Above

Israel does have ties to Singaporean equipment. For example, the Python-5 is used by Singapore’s F-16s. They also do a variety of other weapon systems as far as I’m aware.

It’s not as far-fetched as you would think.

only nations that make sense are China and perhaps a South Korean tree in the future.

Singapore to Israel would actually be a very valid option seeing the military ties

Israel or Japan makes the most sense

I don’t plan on starting any arguments here but, how does China make sense as the nation to host a Singapore subtree?

I would argue adding Singapore to China makes no sense, personally.

At least Israel supplied weapon systems to Singapore.

At least Singapore was a former colony of the British Empire and retains good relations with the UK.

At least Japan has decent relations with Singapore in modern times.

China already has access to other nations in the region (eg. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Laos) plus their own domestic designs.

  • F-15SG → J-16, J-15, Su-35
  • F-16s → Taiwan has Block 70s, Pakistan has the Block 52+, and don’t forget the later JF-17s, J-10B, and J-10C
  • Leopard 2SG → Taiwanese M1A2T, more modern domestic designs

China simply has no need for Singapore, where other nations are lacking (eg. Japan).

They should add it to France for the giggles

They’re neutral and have ties with each other. They even share a similar language no other nation in game makes sense outside of that.

There are so many other nations that are better candidates for subtrees. I’m not sure it would contribute much even if it were added. They basically have only used Amx-13s until 2008 when they upgraded to Leopards.

This would be the most obvious example of gaijin’s policy of giving every tree a leopard, and I’m kinda over it. Just play other nations if someone else has something you like.

Tbh Israel is one of the best options.
It will also fill gap of fighter with AESA, which Israel doesnt really have

Would also make Israel a more appealing grind, having more diversity among nations available in a tree is good all-round and has had positive effects on literally every other tree with a subtree in game, alongside the air gaps they would fill, singapore would also give Israel some much needed IFVs and (similarly to the 2A7HU in italy) would diversify the playstyles of MBTs VIA the 2SG, and rumored 2A7 in the future, for the Israeli top tier lineup

On one hand France might get some unique new vehicles, on the other, it might be a second Trojan horse to dump copy-paste in the tree

Better not risk it

Should be UK of course - why would it be anyone else??

Why, Israel has potential with Chile and Jordan

  • Israel seems to be the closest for the military connection, and they also have the most space for Singapore, so that is an easy option. Even with more domestic vehicles and other subtrees Israel does have quite a bit of catching up to do with other nations, so Singapore would fit right in.

  • Japan could also work, but only with an established ASEAN theme as individually the connection is rather weak. Here I’d also say while there is still room for more compared to other nations even with ID/TH, there’s no more pressing need for this addition either. Currently there is no nation with more than two official subtrees, and even if a third one becomes common I’d say the Philippines would have closer ties individually to Japan.

  • Britain could work for the commonwealth connection, which is arguably more than Japan. But they also have less space than Japan, while also already having two comfirmed subtrees alongside two “sometimes” subtrees.

If I had to rank these I’d say Israel would be best, my second choice would probably tied for Japan and Britain. Japan might also probably be lower without my personal bias, since they have similar issues to Britain when it comes to the implementation with less connection.

Edit → USA maybe could work too, considering Singapore does use (Israeli derived) variants of US vehicles. But for the USA I’m not sure if there’s a need for a subtree at all, and even if it was this probably wouldn’t be the first couice.

I’d realllllly rather not have Britain try and claim every interesting nation because of “muh commonwealth”. It just seems entirely self-centered. And, let’s be honest, Gaijin would just add a few vehicles from that nation and call it a day. There ought to be more distinct geographic groupings via a subtree to allow for more vehicles to be added.
