Please nerf fighter bombing rewards

Yes, its Gaijin incompetence that ARB sucks. But do you have other options? You have right now three options. Dont play at all, suffer in ARB or learn sim and have fun. If I managed to learn that as arcade player, everybody can. And starting learning sim was my best decision in WT.

yeah, Sim isnt as hard as people think it is

Yeah, Id wait until you have at least the engine mod and probably also the BLU-1 and if you are still being beaten to bases by a harrier, then you need to adjust what you are doing. Maybe also reduce fuel load?

Fourth option could be a viable suggestion as to how to make this (perceived) discrepancy “fairer”, but I believe that will see a lot of resistance: Base stealing (as well as kill stealing) is not considered an issue, as everyone has a right to kill a target if he’s capable and in a position to do so, and clear cut limitations of certain vehicle classes may also have a difficult stand, especially in the light of multi-role aircraft. Those aircraft - no matter how they are arbitrarily labelled in the game - have the capability to employ those weapons and perform those roles, so why should they be restricted in doing so…

I’m at minimum and I dump and burn until it says I’m to fast

Even if such a suggestion were to pass (which it certainly won’t), by the time it was implemented, one would still have to choose from those three options. And with the arrival of NE, this will cease to be a factor for realistic battles as there will be enough targets for bombers.

Yeah, probably.

I think one can even simplify those rules a bit, in a way that applies to practically every game mode, vehicle class, BR,…:

  • Don’t like it, don’t play it
  • Learn to play it, learn to like it
  • Try it another way

Those three points can come in every order, in every priority, and actually are constantly moving and shifting while we as players and the game itself develops.

Example from my own WT history: I started with aircraft (ARB mostly), before tanks came out, then played GRB almost exclusively for a long time, before coming back to ARB…

I was always interested more in ground pounders than fighters, so played a lot of strike aircraft at that time, e.g. Milan or A-7. Never liked Air RB too much at higher tiers, because of the RB gameplay that throws all players into basically the same massive furball, with little or no possibility for strike aircraft to operate well (as lamented in this thread).

So I tried another way, trying out Sim.

At first, didn’t like it, because I didn’t know yet how it worked (especially communication between players), but I learned it, and learned to love it.

Trying out another way needs the willingness to change, learning something needs the willingness to invest time and energy. And even not playing needs willingness, the willingness to give something up.

Hm, there may even be more than those three ways, e.g. trying to change what you don’t like. This option of course exists as well, e.g. in our case in the form of suggestions or bug reports. Also those however require willingness, willingness to put an effort into research and argumentation.

(Sheesh have I become pathetically philosophical while writing, haha!)

Spaded the AV-8B+ in Italy using sim, it was good stuff.

I started out with aerial battles in Arcade mode. I played it that way for a long time, all the way up to Tier 5. I had unsuccessful attempts at playing RB/SB at the beginning (only few battles). I personally never liked RB because of only one spawn and in case of sim I liked how it works but it was hard to fly for newbie.

Then, when I saw what rewards simulators offer compared to arcade, I decided to make the switch. I started, of course, gradually, without any big leaps. First, with simple activities. The Soviet B-25 was ideal for this, because it is a very stable aircraft, has good bombs (FAB-500), and also several rear gunners. A lot of basic stuff I learned on this plane. Even dogfighting to some extend.

Some examples:

The first successes came, and then I moved on to the IL-28:

…and finally to fighters as well.

I also persuaded and trained three other players from our squadron on sim. We’ve always had the most epic battles in this game mode. Only gamemode where I had same epic battles as in sim was NE. NE has great potential.

Still doesnt fix people using FIGHTERS to bomb bases cause they are scared…

You want “fix” what? If they want to bomb, let them bomb, if the armament allows it. You cannot artificially restrict aircraft from performing tasks that they could do and actually did in reality. Why not rather replace the game mode that clearly isn’t working with something better? Wouldn’t that be more logical and sensible?

we already have things added or removed from vehicles for balance reasons
so yes you can artificially restrict aircraft
and bombing bases with mig21/f5c/mig23/… is smoothbrain gameplay and should be punished for example give them almost no rewards (like we have diminishing rewards for bombing multiple bases) and preferably make it not possible at all

Idk why the fuck gaijin thought it was a good idea to give bombers and strike planes diminishing returns (at least the slow strike planes)

imo, the issue isnt necessarily that they can base bomb, the issue is the ease in which they can base bomb AND destroy them (the effectiveness of napalm is too high and bases are too squishy) and that there isnt necessarily any incentive to actually engage in PvP in these aircraft.

Make PvP in a fighter more rewarding, whilst simutaneously nerfing their advantage (napalm) and making it so that bases need a LOT more bombs to destroy than basically any fighter can actually carry, and it would be rebalanced effectively.

They can still bomb a base, but they will only get a reward for damaging, not the reward for destroying, unless someone comes along and assists in destroying, at which point they get a proportional share.

Meanwhile strike aircraft which typically have larger bomb loads, and not necessarily napalm, have a greater impact, because they might be able to take out a base in a single sortie, and get much larger proportional rewards.

strike aircraft like A5C still rely on napalm, I think the best solution is to just give any plane class other than strike/bomber a big penalty to rewards from base bombing so they are incentivized to fight. If they still want to bomb they can but it will get 90% of premium bomb spammers to actually go and learn to fight

they are actively griefing as the one plane that could get good loadout to fight planes AINT fighting planes…

Why a fighter should carry bombs in Air only modes? Its genuinely bs

Real life classes don’t always correlate with in-game classes, I mean there are a lot of fighter-bombers/multirole aircraft, which are labeled “fighter”, especially in jet era.
Imo the best would be to add more protected bases which you can only destroy using bombs, but not napalm or at least rework current bases with multiple layers of protection.
PS idk about F-111, but with Tornado I usually just go for ground vehicles using cannons, if there are too many teammates flying towards bases, sometimes I use bombs against ground targets or if enemies aren’t interested in me, keep bombs and wait for bases to respawn.

i agree that fighters should get the bombing rewards reduced, i’m annoyed at loading into a match and seeing that 4 alied f5Cs have fire bombs and we end up loosing bc they focus bases instead of players, fighter aircraft should fight other aircraft, base striking should be the least of their priorities, therefore reducing their awards for bombing would encourage them to stop bombing
