Germany never put a 8.8 on a Panther 2. Nor did they try to
Americans are the only ones who ever had a Panther 2 complete with a turret and gun. Its why its in America today in a museum.
The US put a turret and gun on the Panther 2 chassis with a turret test weight they obtained from the Germans. I dont see how that configuration would go to the german tech tree, it is afterall an American modification of a german hull done in the US for the US.
There were no plans to mount the long 88 on the Panther II, so there goes that standard.
Whatever ris added doesn’t have to be one for one just something that supports the gaps they fill at that era of the game. Who knows what nation they will get, I haven’t seen any those nations denied officially anywhere yet. As for controversy I don’t believe that will be an issue. They have Ukrainian vehicles in the Russian tree, thaiwan in the Chinese tree and Germans can be on the same team as Israel, they have said many times they don’t care about these national politics.

Exactly that’s why the panther 2 was removed and will stay gone in its current form.
As for America, please remind me which tree the Horton is in again? Also a couple Japanese planes that only exist in American museums iirc. Just because America took it as a war trophy doesn’t mean it doesn’t belong in that tree.
There are some politics even if you want to ignore that will get in your face whenever you state you don’t want to or not. This would be one of them.
Never I don’t disagree a lot of trees need some better replacements than the ones we have gotten. Ones that are more faithful to their irl counterpart with proper designations looking at you Möbelwagen using the wrong designation of “Zerstörer 45”.
Ukraine is literally at war with Russia right now. China is literally promising to invade thaiwan because they don’t exist. South Korea being in the Japanese tree is not a comparison nor is any other friendly Asian nation either.
Politics is not the same for the West and East their completely different. In the West it’s a video game so it will be tolerated in the East it will not. Now with that, I’m not gonna continue this anymore. Good day, afternoon, and or goodnight to you sir.

I said its in an american museum because the US obtained the Panther 2 chassis, tested it and then later added a turret with a gun to that chassis making it the only Panther 2 configuration that came to be with an armament.
Its not because they obtained it from Germany that should make it be in the US tech tree, its the fact they added a gun and turret to it.

And its also why we dont see Aim-9X on a Spitfire mk IXc. 2 historical projects dont make a real one.
None of that means anything. It’s a war trophy built by the Germans so it belongs there.

The US put a turret and gun on the hull.
The US can get the configuration they made (since they put it together)
If it would go to the German tree it would be a “what if” like the E-100 where a plausible turret would be put on the hull.
The US one is real and exists today
The German one isnt (only the hull existed) and would be added on the “unfinished prototype” Basis.

The American one… It’s German. Americans captured it but it’s German. America didn’t do anything magical, all they did was put the turret on that already existed. It’s German plain and simple.
America has there own stuff and Germany has theirs. This is coming from someone who doesn’t care much for any nation in warthunder so bias isn’t involved.

The game is loaded with captured vehicles. The Chinese have a war trophy T62. The Ausf G turret was never intended to be on the Panther II hull. It’s a great event or premium vehicle for the US tree.
Captured vehicles are copies of vehicles already in their main nation. To think you deserve a German built tank instead of the Germans is ludicrous. German hull, German turret, German gun.

Same. Thats why i care for consistensy of where stuff is added.
If a country obtained a vehicle and modified it (which is what the US did) then it should be added under that flag in the game.
Modification is a real stretch. They picked up a turret and put it on the hull. Wow…

I don’t see why it isn’t. The Japanese have an M47 they never adopted. They have a Tiger I they never adopted. The Germans have a Leopard 2 built for the US.
In fact, it seems the only nation not allowed to get foreign tanks it tested or built for its testing is the US.
Vickers mk 7 is a modification of a Leopard 2 hull is it not?
