Please for the love of god separate the cold war vehicles from the ww2 vehicles

Traction is the foremost offender of poor ground physics in the game, what we currently have is inexcusable.

Input methods don’t determine simulation or not.

@Mahiwew
If you think WT’s ground physics are bad… I’m scared what you think of DCS’s inferior ground physics.

If one plays DCS for the ground vehicles then they got very lost I’m afraid

The way gaijin simulates ground vehicles is not very realistic.

Torque seems to be nonexistent sometimes.
Tanks can’t go up hills they would irl.
Wheeled vehicles driving fast feel incredibly floaty and unstable.
Tanks vibrate if they are touching a solid objects
Gaijin also doesn’t model torque converters or CVTs for the tanks that have them (but then again very few games do model torque converters.)

Yeah ok, I think I remember something about that now

It’s more so during landings & taxiing.

It can also be defined as a game that has fairly realistic physics, but it doesn’t go the extra mile to make it even more realistic.

We thunder is not a sim, but it is also not an arcade game.
It is somewhere in between.

Some stuff is simulated well, and some stuff isn’t.

Here’s the thing, if DCS is a sim so is War Thunder.
Simulators are allowed to have inaccuracies.
Arma 3 use to be considered a sim until simulator standards increased in the last few years.

If Arma 3 can’t be a sim, WT is not even in the ballpark.

This is below Sim standards

This is a Sim

The thing with this arguments is that there are people who want it and people against it, and this game is marketed towards people who want to play a arcadey mil-sim (yes i know those 2 dont fit togethor but thats what it is) but the general player base couldn’t care about such a thing

Arma 3’s physics is so dated that despite it running the same physics engine as Mirror’s Edge it still manages to be 2004 in physics simulation.

i hate to tell you this but you can toggle aiming from gunners sight in options.
you can also toggle a view from driving from drivers port (though the interior isnt modelled) but its the basics for a sim like experience

Yeah, and both sides are stupid.

Yeah, nothing like uphill drifting in Warthunder to really make me feel immersed.

very much agreed

Yeah, because I’m going to intentionally handicap myself by adding gun parallax, which isn’t really the point anyways.

Viewport is literally just a black frame and entirely useless, it’s extremely barebones and can hardly be called a sim experience in any capacity.

Well they were going to fix that but our feedback reverted the changes; so those changes are back in development until finished.
And I’ll take that inaccuracy over Snowrunner or DCS.

Snowrunner doesn’t claim to be any sort of simulator yet it has more advanced physics compared to Warthunder.
DCS is a flight sim, I don’t really see the relevance of the ground physics as much, and despite having never played it, I doubt it’s worse than WT.

DCS is a flight sim and had more inaccuracies around physics until this year [open beta] cause it mostly focused on subsystems regarding radars for 2020 - 2022.
