Are you only talking about for the average player? Then I’d say armor only matters until around 6.7 then you’re still better off with mobility in my experience.
So we are talking about M26 and Panthers where armor is still matters.
If I had to choose between playing only Panther or M26, I would always choose M26 as it is just better.

Im not doging nothing, the whole US players complain hard for obtain more pen in the 90mm guns. Finally Gaijin increase the penn and even in some cases some vehicles enjoy the buff without any BR bump. But now here we go again complaining becuase they want his less pen shell back becuase have a bit more of post pen and this funny and more or less useless becuase improved new shell have enough one shot potential. So here we have the US player complaning becuase they want a worst shell…
Sorry but im not like you and play mostly all nations, the difference is im not ultra fanatic fanboy and not the are a lot of german guns with nerfed penetrations so just stop crying becuase you only favourite nation is nor blesed with ALL.

So how i must fight fuckin panther when it can use stock ammo to lolpen it but i must aim to turret cheeks or use APCR without angle to pen it? M26 have not enough mobility to flank and not enough armor and firepower to direct frontal push.
Another balance for italian team due to different temmates?(both countries and vehicles). Fu-fu-fu, nothing.

UFP isn’t an easy pen if you don’t just drive directly at the Panther, and the side armor is pretty good for an american tank, especially with the goofy ass DM around the wheels and tracks for Americans. Turret can also be troll. A vehicle being ABLE to be penetrated is 99.9% of vehicles in any given situation. That does not mean it doesn’t have decent armor. It shouldn’t be 6.7 but don’t lie about the tank.
While any german just point and click on me. I already can properly flank those blind idiots on M18. Or use my jumbo against tiger who didn’t even tried to shoot MG port even after breaking tracks. Just continued to shoot at UFP and turret face. Even soviets with russian bias need heavy artillery like Destructor-25T to fight with panthers.
ALSO, The M26 can now ALSO upper plate pen any Panther that isn’t the Panther II…
If You can’t use other vechicles, then just play german ones. It only means that they suit Your gameplay more.
For me, I will always prefer USA tanks over german ones.
With apcr on short distance with very small agle. Good. Or with height advantage

Only under around 25 meters with 853 m/s M82. And that’s with a completely unangled Panther.
It’s entirely outclassed without any redeeming features.
