So after the battle ratings has been elevated for multiple times for the past years, it seems that the BR level rules for Ground Assault modes and the AI targets have been the same.
It is too hard for new 8.3 BR tanks like T-55A and BMP-2 to defeat top tier AI targets like T-80BVM, Leopard 2A5/6, or AMX Leclerc. In a common team in ground assault, maybe there are several players with 8.x-9.x BR vehicles, or with stock MBTs which still use HEAT rounds. This could lead to a quick defeat.
So my suggestion is that, not only should Gaijin adjust the BR group rules for ground assault, but Gaijin can also redesign the AI targets for ground assault mode, to reduce the difficulty of this mode.
Indeed, my first attempts at the top bracket were quite painful. I had no idea where to hit enemy tanks (other than rough guesses), but my tin cans (Leopard 1A1 and 1A5) had already bits falling off when hit by the rangefinder. I did manage to fully upgrade those two over time, plus the first Gepard, but with the Gepard 1A2 it’s already taking much longer because it needs a ton more points.
That’s where the bonus difficulties come in. It’s as big as a barn, armoured like a teabag, and absolutely has to hit ground targets, if possible kill them, or it will see very little progress. Might even get nothing because of not enough activity (from just shooting at planes), I had that a few times on Z45 and Kugelblitz.
Split the top bracket into 8.3 - 10.0 and 10.0+
Maybe make life for SPAA upgraders a bit easier. For pretty much any upgrade the Gepard 1A2 needs three wins, and I think that anything over 10 (I only have the bought Leopard 2A4 in this range yet because I couldn’t get anywhere with the tin cans) will be just as bad, possibly even worse.
At least the Sinai map is in my opinion absolutely unsuited for the top bracket in Assault. This may make me look bad, but I refuse to play it on 8.3+ because while respawning in full view of all enemy tanks is already bad in the lower brackets, at the top you need an inordinate amount of luck to survive the first five seconds. If I get Sinai from the queue, I rather take the 9-minute penalty than do that to myself.
Sinai is the most painful map for ground assault mode. Unbalanced respawn points for players and hostile AIs, heavily armoured Challenger 2 tanks, and lack of cover and shelter between the two sides.
Gaijin seldom considered the difference between game modes when changing specific maps or mechanics. The situation for the Sinai map has worsened when Gaijin adjusted it in the past several updates.
they need to rework this whole thing.
Init’s current state it’s the worse gamemode i’ve ever played in any game i know.
Problems i think in short:
AI is to accurate, shoots through the ground and it’s unbelieveable how many times you repair your gun and breech, because they always hit them, this should be more randomized where they hit.
AI seems not to be synchronized well, i’ve expierence many time where the AI turns the turrets and even it doesn’t face me, it shoot’s and i see the bullet and the gun and breech are out.
I think this is the problem with shooting through ground.
Remove the thing when you die you lose points.
Update the BR’s
Give Spawnprotection (?) sometimes it works sometimes you live about 2 secs, or at least better spawnpoints where you don’t get shot down from 20 AI Aimbots.
I don’t know if there are many bots, but it feels like this many people just drive somewhere and don’t do anything.
-Adding more Maps.
-It’s just not much fun.
But i don’t think they are interested to update this mode anytime soon. Maybe there are to few players which are playing this mode. But i fully understand why haha. :D
I remember it years ago probably 6 or 7, it was a realy fun game mode, much more balanced and cool to play, but now it’s just a dead relict of the past in this game.
Kinda sad, because “towerdefense” is always a nice thing.
Most PvP I did so far was with ships. Bit of something new, held my interest for a bit but I haven’t used a ship or plane in months. My total PvP time on tanks is a bit over two hours. This will probably change once I have the desired selection of tanks from every tier ready, but most of my playing is Ground Assault.
It might be helpful if players actually understood what this whole mode is about (magic word “cooperative”) and that surprisingly little is needed to win. If they shoot the bloody bot planes down quick instead of ignoring them, it is very helpful, to the point of having less holes in the ground. Maginot with those idiotic, bomb-dropping prototype planes tends to look like Verdun or Passchendaele after a few waves. Respawning in a crater, hilarious.
Yes they need to do that for ground and air. For air they are grouping 6.7 to 12.7 together?? really?? Me-262 has a chance to kill air targets when the lobby is full of F-16,14,15 and Su-27, mig 29’s?
