Overall this set of battle rating changes is further proof that using “statistics” to balance does not work.
The vast majority of these changes is just further killing already over-br’d US vehicles while you continuously lower the most broken overpowered German tanks because they seemingly “perform poorly”.
You move up vehicles that dont need to be (nor should be) moved up, a good portion of those vehicles shouldn’t even be as high in BR as they are NOW, and you’re moving them up even more. You look at stats and think that’s the end all be all but you clearly have no understanding of whats actually going on in game. The fact that you are looking to move up the T20, a tank that is nothing more than a short 76mm Sherman with a decent reverse gear, which sits at 6.3; a BR where 90mm US guns should be the minimum caliber unless APDS or HEAT is available. It belongs at 5.7, why is it even at 6.3 beyond statistics? Have you considered the fact that you’ve under-br’d German vehicles so much that those players never learn to pay attention or aim, because their tanks are so low that up to this point they have never had to pay attention or aim in order to “win”? The reason the T20 does well is because the enemies it faces are unobservant and incompetent due to YOUR extremely poor balancing decisions over the past 10 years. A 76mm is a terrible gun, regardless of the chassis its on, above 5.7 without APDS.
There should not be a single US 76mm tank above 5.7BR without APDS, even at 5.7 the US 90mm should start to be the standard, and by 6.0 it should be on every single tank. The T20 should be 5.7, the Super hellcat should be 5.7 or 6.0 MAXIMUM, and the 76mm Jumbo has no business being above 5.7 either. You’re also once again moving Tiger IIs down, the literal point and click adventure tank, that with the recent armor and module changes has made it nearly impossible for a 76mm to kill frontally due to the gunners optic eating entire shells. These arent the only bad changes, but I’m not going to list them all off.
But just realize, this set of changes once again comes across as you all saying “F*** USA!” killing off more and more of its already over-br’d lineups and vehicles every update as you sit and bottle feed Germany, while holding Russias hand as well every update and balance change. Not to mention the mistreatment other nations tend to get.
These changes are doing anything but “balance”, stop using statistics, you guys clearly cannot properly interpret the information it provides. The game “balance” you’ve created is the result of a never ending cycle of bad feedback loops that are skewing the stats to begin with. Keep making Germany egregiously easier and easier to play and you’ll continue getting Germany players that die in a King Tiger to a 76mm because they are so used to being able to hold W and point and click to win because theyve never had to learn otherwise. The reason US vehicles are so over-performing is because US players have to learn to play like rats because their vehicles are comparatively sub-par (due to poor BR balancing!!) so they end up becoming very good players, while you have German players never having to learn much of anything besides panic when you non-pen for once and complain when you die to something rather than learn to pay attention and learn how to aim. You have CREATED the unskilled German players, that make everyone elses stats artificially higher; everyone but Germany from the beginning, has to learn to aim and be aware of positioning.
You have to learn to compare vehicles, not just look at stats. You need to play them, even if you play the vehicle itself you also need to pay attention to the behaviors of other players because it gives a good look into what that tree they’re playing is teaching. You’ll quickly see that a lot of the changes you’ve made are bad because the vehicles arent the problem, the players are. There is no reason why vehicles should be shifting around in BR update after update if you balanced properly. Ideally they shouldn’t need to move at all unless you’ve made one of your MANY mistakes. Every vehicle has a BR it belongs at and shouldnt have to be moved from.
Part of the main problem too is that the Matchmaker BR range is too large. Reduce it to +/- 0.7 or +/-0.4 BR. Seeing things a whole BR above or below is too large of a difference. “Queue times would be longer” is not an excuse, you all at Gaijin have full control of queue times, theyre only longer if you make them longer.
Do better. Stop killing the game, stop using statistical balancing, it doesnt work; not all statistics mean something needs to be changed. Lower the matchmaking BR range. Make the right steps. Lowering Matchmaker BR range would at the very least instantaneously make the game balance better across the board and make your changes easier, and less terrible when they are because they change less around them.
+/-1.0 MM = Balancing with a sledgehammer
+/-0.7 MM = Balancing with a chefs knife
+/-0.4 MM = Balancing with a scalpel
(complete removal of uptiers and downtiers would be bad for the game for a multitude of reasons, which is why its not suggested)
