Oh me neither, I’m not saying it was malicious or anything. Just that her research ended up actively misleading Gaijin.
Not speaking Japanese is a significant research barrier and the fact that Japan destroyed so many documents in 1945 makes things even worse. Every time there are such barriers Gaijin takes a risk. They got burned by one of their China consultants too, though they managed to catch that in time.
I just watched 2x scimitar vs 1 ruski tank that they tracked/ gun… it took them well over a minute to kill it with both shooting everywhere none stop. Not sure if they had the better rounds as they never replied when i asked, still funny antics
This was an interview for a magazine long before that really caught on.
And they themselves state it wasn’t some “wonder weapon”. Its development was canned because the Ki-84 was being developed and was a fresh, superior design.
Vehicle: Scimitar mk.2
Gamemode: Ground Realistic
BR Change: 8.3 —> 7.7
Reason: Its not even the same as its 7.7 counterpart, its has significantly worse mobility and thermal vision doesnt help, placing it higher than mk1 is a sick joke.
Rationale
The improved top speed of the BT-7M makes it a big step up from the previous BT’s since it can fully take advantage of its insane p/w. This makes it extremely strong at its current BR in the right hands. The fact that it’s already many peoples’ go to for farming God Mode medals is telling.
But at the same time, just sitting at rank I is massive missed potential. It has all that mobility, but can’t be used to scout. It would easily fill the scout niche much better than the likes of the T-50 or T-80 if it was allowed to.
Reason: Low performance compared to peers at 2.7, with weak cannon for it s BR, and unremarkable survivability. With maximum 62mm of penetration at 10m distance against flat armor, has a hard time when uptiered even with its mobility. Unlike AB 43, this is counted as a medium tank so doesn’t get the benefits of light tanks while playing practically like one.
Rationale
The Pz.III F is above average at just about everything by 1.3 standards.
The APC round has great pen and decent damage.
It has extremely high top speed and reverse speed, a fair p/w, and the ability to mount Winterketten.
The wide mantlet is 70 mm effective while the hull is 30 mm all round, allowing it to angle at 45° to resist weaker guns.
Its gets a 5 man crew at a BR where this isn’t yet standard for tanks.
Its only limiting factors are the unimpressive turret traverse rate and 4 sec reload, which are still fairly manageable downsides. When compared to the Pz.III J at 2.3, it’s not even an outright downgrade since the Ausf.J has lower effective mantlet armor and much lower top speed.
The Ausf.F doesn’t have the convenient turret ready-rack of the later Pz.III variants, but it does use shorter rounds, so I believe it would be fair to buff the reload to a comparable level as compensation for a BR increase.
Reason: Low performance compared to peers at 2.7, with weak cannon for it s BR, and unremarkable survivability. With maximum 62mm of penetration at 10m distance against flat armor, has a hard time when uptiered even with its mobility.
I’d like more of your suggestions, but I literally ran out for today. Low tiers deserve more attention, and the Pz.38(t) n.A. should also be pushed to rank II, where it actually was when it was released.
I might make a separate thread where I compile low rank suggestions into one post.
The issue with doing individual posts per vehicle is that it makes each vehicle appear like an isolated balance decision. I’d rather give the full context of what changes I’d make to other vehicles in the same BR range to illustrate a lack of favoritism, but it’s not really feasible here, and I don’t want to flood the thread with small reload speed tweak posts that no one gives a crap about.
Reason: why does the direct competitor (T72A) to the M1 Abrams sit 1.4 BR lower than it. the m1 abrams has decent mobility and a shitty thermal. the tank doesnt even get M900 there is ZERO reason it should sit that much higher when from 9.3 to 10.7 the russian tech tree gets MULTIPLE T series MBTs before american mains even sniff the m1 abrams. Also the m1 abrams armor is not good at all the cheeks can get penned pretty reliably as well with any good penning apfsds shell.
Reason: The Mystere IVA was already one of the worst 8.7 fighters before the 15Bis and F-86F (The two best 8.7 fighters), went down in BR. The Mystere IVA is nowhere near on par with the current lineup of 8.7s that have been lowered over time; Notably the Lim-5, MiG-17, and CL-13A. It’s arguably worse than a lot of 8.0s and 7.7s.
Gajin has an issue with balancing any HE reliant vehicle because of how explosive damage is modeled. It’s very inconsistent and unintuitive, which when paired with low shell velocity, makes these types of vehicle hard to use for all the new players that are able to obtain them very early into the grind.
While the M4A3 (105) specifically needs several changes so that its not bullying 2.0’s and 2.3’s, the broader issue could be addressed by allowing HE to cause residual damage through plates thicker than the HE penetration value. It would make the rounds much easier to use and would help justify moving all the HE slingers up.
