In Air Arcade, the MiG-29SMT can outperform the F-16ADF in several key areas: it has a better thrust-to-weight ratio, higher maximum speed, and access to R-73 with HMD — a capability gap compared to the AIM-9L setup of the F-16ADF, which lacks HMD and AIM-9M.
The MiG-29SMT can also be very effective against the Su-30 in close-range fights, especially on smaller Arcade maps where engagements often become dogfights.
I am not insisting that the MiG-29SMT must receive a BR increase. However, if the planned BR changes affect the mentioned aircraft while the Su-30 remains at BR 13.3, the balance shift will be exactly as described in my original analysis.
If the Su-30 is moved to BR 13.7, this comparison and the overall balance situation would change significantly.
Su-30Mk2s have an outright better flight performance than you in every mode, and isn’t laden with full fuel unlike mig-29s. 68% fuel (30 min) in a flanker lasts as much as 40-45 minutes (around a full tank + drop tanks) in a mig 29.
I think people forget about the electronic equipment…
Ive spaded the mig 29n and all i have learned from doing that is that ill never fly a mig 29 again. The rwr is in sectors and is painful to read, its radar barely works so i normally just stick to hms. There is no world where this plane is considered equal to the premium su 30s.
To be fair, he was talking about the SMT which does get the digital RWR, but i understand your qualms. 29N has no business being equal in BR to Su-30mk2s, or does most other 13.3s really.
Su-34 is at BR 13.3 in Air Arcade Battles. Please read the entire post next time instead of picking out individual technical details while ignoring the actual point of the discussion.
Yes, the manin post is about BR changes in Air Arcade Battles , not Realistic Battles (there SU-34 have BR 13.7) and not a general aircraft comparison. The whole argument is about the impact of changing some aircraft while leaving others at their current BR
Reason: horrendous, a 1 trick show pony that can only pull a lot of AOA at once, so much it makes boom and zoom horrendous due to the super extra care one needs to turn back for an follow up pass.
It is even easier to shoot down, with the loss of one elevon resulting in death since it won’t be able to pitch up without rolling over.
The armament? 6x 50cal with M20 API-T seems the same deal of balanced but .50s benefit from being spread out and increasing the chances to hit a fuel tank. The XF5U-1’s unstable platform has them all near the nose.
Vertical manouvers are also bad, XF5U-1 can fly like a helicopter sure but only at 55km/h or 45km/h IAS and at perfectly up, otherwise it will tumble to it’s side and fall, during this whole time the only responsiveness of the XF5U is the rollrate.
It’s top speed is a miracle, since normally is the acceleration will keep you at 500km/h tops.
The rudder authority is bad and the rollrate inertia (like on P-38s) doesn’t help
Climbrate is also bad but we can avoid it via sideclimbing, would be if it didn’t have the chance to meet supeprops or super late WW2 props.
I don’t personally believe the Merkava 4 tanks should be 13.0 on this list. They struggle with 10.0 APFSDS and their chemical performance is weak even against now 9.3 ATGM launchers.
Furthermore, the chemical protection they had on the roof, which once used to be 80mm (underperforming), is now only about 30mm (extremely underperforming and concerning) thanks to the LMUR’s inability to kill it reliably.
F-16s are well known to out-accelerate most fulcrums except 29M/KR due to their upgraded engine. Why would arcade change anything? All arcade does is preventing you from G-locking and multiplying existing parameters. Just like how a P-47 does not outclimb a Ki-44 in either arcade or realistic, a mig-29SMT does not out accelerate an F-16.
Ive only played top tier arcade a handful of times, how is it that in rb a mig 29 basically stands no chance whatsoever against an f16a while in arcade your saying its the other way round.
Genuinely curious as im not sure what your really look for in arcade in the first place as manoeuvrability doesn’t seem all that important in a game mode where your basically flying kites.
Air Realistic
A21RB
Proposed Change: 6.7 → 6.3
Outperformed by aircraft like the P-51H easily, there is no world where the A21 should be higher than the P-51H-5 or Spitfire Mk.22
OR: Give the A21RB 13.2mm Akan m/39A and keep at 6.7
