I will tell you what I do, I turn to TWS, and then I narrow the radar beam. I extend the range out to 93km, and then its on. I take on planes that have aim120s, because my range is about 30km beyond theirs. I fire my Fakours and then return to the base. I have had success with this method. When I return to battle, I have my 4 Fakours, but I also have my two r27s, its a hard plane to stop, on top of everything else, if I have to get into a dogfight, I have been flying Zeros in between. This Tomcat is a very hard plane to defeat, the problem comes when in an uptier, what do you do about that? I try to notch, but it seems from 10km on in, you are not going to notch a aim120 or any other fox 3s. How do you notch from so close?
i’d suggest watching defyn’s guide on how to evade fox 3’s. his videos are quite helpful. notching gets easier with practice :)
It’s doomed right when you narrowed that radar beam.
you lack of targets on narrow beam, and it’s harder to track em until fakours are on pitbull mode.
I do not do to badly with the way I use it now, however, I will try it. However, the game seems different every 2 weeks, with the way the Devs fidget with the planes. If dont fly a plane for two months, and get back into it, its a totally different plane, totally different missiles.
I have a lot of planes, Ive been playing for 12 years, and so occasionally I get into the habit of flying the same 5 planes, and want to change it up.
However, the comment above yours mentioned DEFYN, he has 50,000 airkills in about 10,000 flights, he is where I got the suggestion to narrow the radar beam.
Notching is not too hard when youre in a plane that has a half way decent RWR, unfortunately, both the 12.7 Tomcats do not.
Yeah, real fun to lose track on half of enemy team or even more, while using narrow scan.
Had to try 2 games on that narrow , got 0 kills on fakours, never again.
But is that surprise, that most of streamers/hardcore gamer styles just doesnt work on normal gamers…
One thing Ive learned in WT is that everyone like different planes, and people will go on and on about which plane is BEST. I also know people have different personalities and so everyone has their own unique flying style of play, following a general guideline for that planes strength. However, mate, for some reason I knock off at least two with the narrow beam and tried widening it as you said. So there you are, it is probably the targets we are selecting, etc. Dude I wish the wider beam worked for me but it doesnt.
Unique flying styles for everyone: I always hated US boom and zoom props, never did well in them. But for some reason, I smoke in Me 109s., which are a boom and zoomer basically, with maybe a little more maneuverability. But there you are, you see these guys with Corsairs, P51s, P47s just smoking everything. Thanks for participating in the topic.
