People will still 1 death leave. The issue was never repair costs

You could get some more tanks, so that you have a lineup before you play.

hmm very smart. So let’s wait another 2 years of grind just to play a tank.
No

2 years? Try 1.5 months if it’s the top end at 2 hours of play a day.

Ik, i play the 120 too, people really need to learn how to spot things from the air. then they would realise that the 120 isnt really overpowered, its just a good gun and semi-decent mobility and not much else

sorry but, like most people, I have a life and family so 2h per week end is the best I can do. So I’ll continue ODL to play my one and only Leclerc

The CAS problem, that’s another one. You get a good spot, you kill a noob light rusher that caps a point, then you get killed by the same player flying a plane. In low tiers, 50cals are a pain in the ass, very few tanks can resist them. And most of them are from the nations that spams 50cals. And even if you are able to hold them up, you might get bombed down, or rocketed. Helicopters are another cance** problem.
Thanks for remembering me another problem.

You mean a life and family that I also have? Huh, who’d thought more people would have lives…

Good for you if you have the time to play then

Nah don’t worry, some people here will tell you that revenge bombing does not exist

love how in Enlisted when you leave during the battle, the game calls you ‘‘deserter’’

I am just going to bring in some personal opinions on the topic; don’t quote me on this.

Some of the points mentioned here are excellent. One-death leaving (ODL - I will be using this abbreviation) occurs for a variety of reasons, and I believe the player’s mindset has a significant influence in this. Some of the most common reasons that players one-death leave are:

  1. Repair cost,
  2. Losing matches,
  3. Bad teams,
  4. Uptiers,
  5. Better grinding efficiency (I am not sure why this was mentioned as a reason in the past and I cannot make sense of it).

Nevertheless, it is obvious that players typically blame “others” for one-death leaving the game and fail to engage in any self-reflection. I have been at a huge disadvantage in matches on multiple occasions before, due to fewer teammates and full uptiers. However, thanks to consistent spawning and incredible teamwork, we eventually won the battle, bringing me with good rewards and, perhaps most importantly, makes me feel incredibly proud of myself.

If one player leaves the game early, the team suffers a slight disadvantage. It doesn’t take more than a few early leaving players to bring the entire match to a defeat. More often than not (from what I have seen in battles), players blame “others” for leaving early, whether it is bad teams or maps. I have witnessed multiple instances when players are typing insults into the game about how poorly their team is performing while barely contributing anything meaningful themselves. For example, you are not making a meaningful contribution to your team by flying in circles strafing tanks with your LMGs in a GRB match on planes while your team is struggling on the ground and needs more players on the ground to hold the capture zones.

Furthermore, I also had numerous instances where players take some light vehicles running across the map at the start, barely checking the corners for enemies, only to get knocked out by someone on the enemy team 2 minutes into the battle, and they left the match right after.

  1. Is it because you are losing a match? No.
  2. Is it because of bad teams? No.
  3. Is it because of repair costs? No.

It is really due to personal poor choices. This has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else, yet a lot of these players are quick find a “scapegoat” and blame them without a second thought.

Overall, I do understand that there are improvements to be made and legitimate bad matches. But It is equally important to reflect on the mindset while playing as well. If you are having a bad day, then take a break, have a coffee, you can always come back later. No one is going to have bad luck all the time ~

Interesting, I’ll have a self reflection when France will have a light tank or TD at 11.7 to have an actual lineup.
Nevertheless, you forgot the number one reason for ODL : planes.

Well said.

I would add that the ability to only bring 1 vehicle to a battle also has something to do with ODL.

When my team is stacked with players with 1 vehicle lineups then I know how the battle is going to end. As much as I may try to stick it out and work with teammates who continue to fight against the odds, 99% of the time we lose.

Also CSA is a problem. Today it seems there are aircraft within the first 2 minutes of the battle with players getting killed by some cheap kamikaze play or being bombed as soon as they spawn in.

Finally I’m seeing more players afk just sitting in spawn.

This just leads to frustration when I’m just trying to enjoy playing with teammates who actually understand the concept of team play and want to achieve the win.

Hopefully Gaijin can do something to mitigate those who ODL.

Just because a new premium has multiple backups, it doesn’t mean the player has to use them. I would agree to a mechanism to get players to stay engaged in a battle but with all the things WT hasn’t fixed I doubt this will come to be. If WT even cared about 1DL they would have to start fixing the things that make casual players want to 1DL. After all, WT is hinted at as being a pay-to-win platform.

I really agree with what you have mentioned regarding the ability to only bring one vehicle to a battle, which will have an impact on players that ODL. Perhaps making the match reward more accumulative-based? For example, staying in a match (not AFK) and actively contributing will lead to increased rewards as time passes? That might encourage players to stay longer in matches. Just my own opinions.

give us tank only mode that would solve a great deal of the issue with ODL also allow us to choose which maps we queue I see many ppl just not start playing on certain maps because they either alt+f4 or simply go back to hangar and I myself do that too on some maps that are so poorly designed it is questionable if any thought was even given to the design

Being honest here, I really doubt it (personal opinion). Even if, just if, tank-only modes are implemented, I doubt ODL will get solved at all.

Before the adjustments made to the game economy, a lot of players complained about repair costs being the main reason why ODL was happening. Well, with the current repair cost going down and the earnings significantly increasing, I still see tonnes of players (even in low-mid BRs) ODLing the battle.

From what I have seen, more than half of the ODL players quit so early in a match that planes are barely an influencing factor. Most of them quit during the first 5 minutes of their first death (by enemy ground units) without gaining any kills. You have to realise that most ODL happens really early in the match, where in most BR brackets, barely any air units are spawned (with some top-tier exceptions).

As for the map, it is preference based. A map one player dislikes might be another player’s favourite. You can always downvote a map in the game to decrease your chances of playing in it.

Í dont recall ever hearing the economy was a main reason, it was always a plethora of reasons with some big (like maps economy and CAS) and some minor( gaijin being too lazy to impliment vehicle mechanics etc.) So no it was never a “main” reason

you do realized that you can spawn in a KA-52 and other helis with dumb fire rockets at the start of the game and be faster on the battlefield than most tanks can take positions right?

well it doesnt change that you
A ) cant ban enough maps
B ) some maps have objectively BAD map design
C ) you can still get maps you downvote (had that 5 times in a row yesterday)

all that makes for a frustrating experience so that players dont even want to play certain maps and either drive into their death (suicide rush) or out right quit the game further contributing to ODL

In one of the heated discussions on the old forum, apparently I had seen many players complained about high repair costs, inadequate rewards, and better grinding efficiency as the primary reasons for ODL. I agree with you that there have always been a wide range of causes for ODL (many of which are subjective in nature). What I am trying to imply here is that the economy was a key issue previously (though I am not sure how long it stood as a key issue for ODL; things like this fluctuate from time to time).

That only affects the high/top tier and, as I mentioned (read what I wrote in what you quoted - with some top tier exceptions), has nothing to do with the significant ODL players in the low/mid/mid-high BR range, where helicopters aren’t available and many players ODL before any planes spawn.

Even if the helicopter rush does ruin the day for many players (and I agree to a certain aspect), it is more or less a gamble (and from what I have seen, they get shot down without doing much damage far more often than they do enough damage to be a major influencing factor towards ODL through a holistic perspective).

The irony of this situation is that many of the helicopter rush players at the start of the match are also ODL (whether they have killed anything or not).

Well, if every player can ban enough maps to the point that they will only play their favorites, it is not hard to guess that the waiting time will be massively extended.

Maybe more players upvoting it than downvoting it?

idk never seen ppl mention eco as the only/main reason but ok

ok no thats the oposite of what you wrote , you spoke about eco in general then with an interjection at the end about low-mid the focus was never on mid low
also eco isnt the main driving force in lower BRs as the rewards are way better than in high
I personally would say in low-mid br its actually the map design

absolutly right tho you have to admit that especially the russian helis and the premium at that are like flying tanks (as could be seen by multiple threads and yt vides in the last weeks) sometimes flying for minutes (and fighting at that) even tho they have sustained irreparable dmg. what you describe here is more of a early western heli problem as russians seem to be able to get atleast 1 or 2 kills even when dying

that is such a…mute argument if you cna evne call it that and one gaijin cant get rid of repeating again and again…ok then lets look at other shooters because yes warthunder is a shooter. In which shooter (that is comercially successful) can you not choose which maps to play?
exactly none of the mainstream ones and suprise suprise the waiting times aint long
(oh and if you queue for the wrong map and quit you dont get crew locked ;) )

a mechanic that is so …yea cant say that word

you should simply be able to checkmark a list of maps you want to play when you want to play them
thats what other games do…fun games
