What?
Yea man, them and their…oh wait they are all bought tanks from other nations.
What did they “build” that makes them “the only country among the Axis that built good tanks” ?
me when i spread missinformation
You mean Hungary, right???
The only credible source I was able to find is Panther & Its Variants by Walter J. Spielberger but sadly the book des not include any photographs or illustrations of KwK 44/2. However, it provides a fairly detailed explanation of how the mechanised worked.
Eh Walter J. Spielberger mentions in Panther & Its Variants that there was similar mechanism for L/70 too.
According to Spielberger, the assisted loading mechanism held 4 rounds and allowed rate of fire of 40 rounds per minute. However, this figure is likely for only to the 4 rounds stored in the carriage. At that 40 RPM rate, reload between shots would 1.5 seconds. There is, however, no information provided regarding reloading process or replenishment time of the carriage. It would be similar to Chi-Ri’s assisted loading mechanism I suppose.
Spielberger also notes that the KwK 44/2 was prepared for installation in the Panther F, most likely in the Schmalturm.
Since Gaijin is not against adding semi-realised or half-completed prototypes (like M6A2E1 and that Soviet plane with IRST) a Panther F equipped with the KwK 44/2 L/70 and S.Z.F.1 stabilized sight or S.Z.F.1B stabilized sight with the pre-ignition device would be an interesting option for 6.3–7.0 BR range. Especially considering both 44/2 and S.Z.F.1/S.Z.F.1b were specifically designed to be used on serial production Panther F.
This would be peak If we could get more info about this
I’ve went through pretty much every Panther related book I have, only Panther & Its Variants mentions KwK 44/2. Luckily some Panther focused website also mentions such gun, which probably allows for a suggestion as there is now two secondary sources. (Though I would count Spielberger, Jentz and Doyle as primary source if anything.)
Also I’ve realised that you’ve did marvels job mate, pretty much anything related to Schmale Blendenausführung and Panther II is here.
oh yeah i remember that too but iirc while this was a 4 round loader, that one was 3 round but i dont remember where i read that
