There was that proposal for a fully stabilized king tiger tho
yes there was
It wasn’t intended by the Germans to fit a Panther D/G turret. That’s not “to spec” you aren’t using these words appropriately. You’re making a hodge podge design that’s just as bad as Gaijin’s if not worse imo. The Germans were clear on what the intent was before cancelation…
Not a D tho, look at the cupola…
You’re still wrong, nothing close to the Panther D. It’s functionally a Panther G/Schmalturm type turret. Again, your version is completely wrong. Like Gaijin’s. Yours just looks more like the American one. Which isn’t correct either?
problem is the panther 2 was not a late war thing. it was made around the time the first panthers entered production and was canned in 1943 or 1944. so even if the war had continued into the 2000 (and lets ignore resource and manufacturing difficulties) we would not see any panther 2s. but we would see 88mm armed panther 1s and E series tanks
panther 2 has basically same story has the Russian T43
We would see more of first Panthers, probably G and F version, loads of smaller tanks* and some Tigers. If Germany would be in good shape then we would see E series (mainly E-50) and limited production of more experimental vehicles.
- as far as I know there is a mention in some documents of finished empty hulls of E-10 and E-25 and its safe to assume that those two would be produced in some numbers since that type of vehicle was quite good option.
None had unique parts or were built. So they’d never come unfortunately
At best theses both had basic woodern mock ups mostly nothing tho
Yeah :(
I don’t really remember details but Im sure steel hull/s of E-10, tho there in nothing more on them unless some german grandpa have one in the basement. We cant confirm any of this unfortunately.
From what I remember it was purely paper since we haven’t found any real reports of it existing or them even starting production on the hulls
The E50 is the doom of the panther 2 given its functionally similar same weight same frontal armor(just sloped differently)
Just based around the E75 which is based on the tiger2
So yea even if the need for a panther 2 type vehicle was there it would be the E50 instead
E50 is so unknown it’s not safe to make them assumptions although probably better
It never went any were yes but it did pretty much take over were the panther 2 left off (it got canceled in 1943)
So if the war had continued that would have been the replacement for the panther 1
Compared to the E-series even the VK 45.02 (P) is infinitely more real, since we have documentation stating the fabrication of three hulls (if not which type, sadly)
That tank is completely real tho although no photos survived the hulls were build and we have documents for that lol and plus they can just 2 variants Hinten (rear) and Vorne
Didn’t those get canceled before the Panther II/other Panther Upgrades lol?…
-
Conditions impossible, it would need to be an entirely different nation with a different ideology for that to be the case.
-
The only thing that didn’t get scrapped/canceled before the serious end of the War would’ve been Tiger IIs with a rangefinder and NVDs same with the Panther. 1946 we wouldn’t see E-series tanks because those got canned well-in… We’d at best see Panther Fs and Tiger IIs with Rangefinders. Which isn’t spectacular as a lot of fictional media and drawings would have you feel.
But doing any research shows the future for them wasn’t anything special even if it lasted one to two years longer. All that would do is make them a target for atomic.
Neither is safe. The Panther II has actual documentation on it, has an actual hull. The proposed requirements had existing parts. The E-50 didn’t. None equivalent. Both were never realized. Tomato’s to Potatoes comparison.
Personally I would love to see:
- Panther II (schmale Blendenausführung): German 6.3 TT
- Panther II (Schmale Blende): German 6.3 Premium
- Panther II (Panther G): US 6.3 Premium
Which documents???
